my girlfriend is using an avc soul player. she likes it a lot. burn mp3's to a disc and it reads it, much like a portable winamp.
can take mp3, wma and is upgradeable for the future.
has a remote and text support on the screen as well.
i go with an mp3 player myself cause i take shorter trips and want something a lot smaller. i have a nomad 2 MG. works great.

I'm pretty sure I want a CDR one since I have a lot of CDs that I might want to play, and I always carry all my CDs around with me anyway.
