it's the day after and my 15th most played track has changed from Jewel's You Were Meant For Me to Dave Matthews' One Sweet World.

Do I suck that I've never even heard of some of the bands mentioned here? the likes of Porcupine Tree, Army of Anyone, Bright Eyes or Director.....

I really wouldn't worry about never hearing of Director, since their album hasn't been released outside of Ireland yet.

If you want to know a bit about them, they are an Irish band who released their debut single less than a year ago, it reached the top 10, and their album a few months ago, the album reached number 2 in the charts and has gone platinum(I think ). The UK release is next year, followed by a worldwide release

If you want to hear any of their songs here's a couple

Director - Reconnect

Director - Reconnect (live)

It is a true tragedy that not many people know Porcupine Tree, given that Steven Wilson has possibly the most beautiful, best voice in modern music. (If he doesn't, Neil Finn does.)

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."

No, don't worry about it.

I tried listening to Porcupine Tree and they're not that special.

Bright Eyes is alright but nothing special either.

I haven't heard of the other two either

It seems like people either adore or despise Bright Eyes. I think the music is brilliant...some think it's depressing and whiney. You should check out a few tunes. If you like what you hear, you NEED to investigate further.
