Hey, let's give Dave a break. He probably won't have many opportunities to make a post like that this year.

The Phillies will need to "hit the ground running" to stay with the Mets this year.

So should we apply a similar theory to the Red Sox 24-0 win over Boston College meaning a 173-0 season is upcoming?

I don't see why not. I'm sure it works both ways.

Cool. The 15-0 drubbing of Northeastern in the night game only reinforces things. In fact not ony 173-0, but all shutouts!!

Yeah baby.

there are times when a team rampages through spring training and goes onto lose 100 games.

there are times when a team rampages through spring training and goes on to win 100 games.

there are times when a team blows in spring training and wins 100 games.

there are times when a team blows in spring training and loses 100 games.

in conclusion, spring training results, much like NFL pre-season results, are fucking useless in predicting a team's success, and anyone with half a clue knows this.

Yep. Individual performance too. Keith Foulke sucked balls in '04 spring training and everybody was pulling their hair out...it worked out OK though.

I got 4 tickets to the Friday Yankee/Orioles game at the end of September. Saturday and Sunday seem to be gone. I'll have to pull strings, I must be at the last game at the Stadium.

Its gonna be torrential rain both Saturday and Sunday, so your Friday tix will be for the last game as they won't make up the 2 rainouts since both teams will be well out of contention.

So stand pat, you're fine.[/nostradamus]

Wow, I feel pretty good about things now. The Yanks not being in it I can see, but the O's? Come on. No more Bedard, no Tejada, they're primed to make a run.

(At the D-Rays! Oh, snap)

Jesus Christ, I know this. I'm not stupid. I thought it was funny.

Santana pitches in a Mets uni for the first time today.

ETA: And promptly gives up three in the first inning.
