the only way that trade makes sense is if omar is attempting to free up more money... either to go after manny or to sign a free agent pitcher like burnett.

Rafael Palmeiro's bumming that he's no longer with the O's if Mrs. Benson is coming to town. That lifetime supply of Viagra would have come in real handy.

not to mention those b-12 shots

the last time omar made a trade that didn't make much sense other than strictly a salary dump... cameron for nady... he ended using that freed up money to help land delgado and wagner.

in omar i trust.

looks like the yankees lost between 50 and 85 million dollars last year... might have something to do with them not spending now

Paul Lo Duca is a nice pick up for the Mets.

Even if they don't get Manny, they've done very well this winter.

well that was fools gold thinking that that a guy comming off a year ending injury and a guy who failed the last time he was in new york would succeed... even if alomar did well, he's a complimentary player, not a run producer.

i fell into the trap, too... i was excited that year as well. but carlos delgado is not mo vaughn...

Honestly though, Burnitz doesn't look that bad compared to how Alomar and Vaughn played. I mean his first season numbers were poor. But he really picked up in the first half of the next season before he was traded. My favorite memory of him was how after Mota hit Piazza for the second time, he and Joe McEwing tried to get at Mota as much as Piazza did. I said right then and there I would never bitch about him again, because you knew his heart was there.

But I always liked Burnitz as a ball player. Its good to see him playing well again. They would show him in the dugout sometimes with the mets and you'd swear he was on suicide Watch.

A lot of players need a year to adjust to New York.
Apparently Vaughn could not adjust to living near the Stage Deli though.

mo vaughn was comming off an injury that forceed him to miss an entire season.

it had nothing to do with adjusting.
