Unfortunately for the Sox, the offense is still AWOL with Coco Crisp and Trot Nixon out and Manny reinventing himself as a defensive specialist.

Also, here's hoping that David Wells doesn't make it back to the rotation -- this will force Boston to use Papelbon as a starter and put Foulke back as the closer.

Well, we knew the offense wouldn't be as good as the past few years. They shifted their focus to pitching and defense, and so far, it seems to be working.

The way Papelbon is going, I don't see them moving him anytime soon.

And here it is before noon and the Sox are on. Gotta love Patriot's Day...

A guy with Papelbon's arsenal of pitches belongs in the rotation long-term, I think. Moving him into the rotation this year would be a risk -- it's always a risk when you trade a known commodity for an unknown one -- but I don't think the Sox are a legit contender this year without a third solid starter.

Jesus. David Ortiz just *crushed* a pitch to deep right center to tie the game at 4s.

Ortiz is carrying the offense, that's for sure.

And I agree on Papelbon - eventually he needs to be in the rotation. But I think they need to bring Foulke along slowly until he's proven to be back where he used to be before they can do that. Right now, he's not. How many of these one-run games would have been losses without Papelbon? I'd guess at least two.

Foulke looked great in the 8th, Timlin or Papelbon probably should have been there to start the 9th. Fortunately Youkilis and Loretta came up huge at the end.

200 wins for pedro.

just listening to the Stephen A Smith show and they were discussing the fact that it's difficult to diagnose the severity of a rib cage injury right away and they think that it's possible they will put Cliff on the 15 day DL

I've gotta say, Millwood is starting to look good. Good guys up 6-2 on Seattle right now, and if they hold on, they move into a three way tie for first.

It's nice having all the AL West teams playing .500 ball right now. Definitely gives the Rangers a chance. Maybe the AL West is the new NL West
