great use of the rotation... pedro and glavine face the pirates, trachsel, zambrano and maine face the braves.

See, this is why every baseball team needs to have an African tribal chief who can perform a rain dance. Especially in the playoffs.

for all the heartburn that he's cause so far... jorge julio is leading the majors in strikeouts by a relief pitcher. he's got more K's than Dontrelle Willis, Barry Zito & Tim Hudson...

if they can ever get his head straight, he could be nasty

How 'bout them Phillies rattling off seven straight? The pitching looks better than expected, Flash Gordon is lights out, Utley and Howard are playing great, and they have a spark they haven't had in a LONG time. They are better than they've been in five years, and they are more under the radar than they've been in five years as well. This could be an interesting division race...

the phillies are certainly interesting... they can hit with anyone. i don't think they have the pitching to stay in the race... but then again who the hell does in the national league?

as for "flash" gordon... well... all i can say is ask any yankee or red sox fan about how tom gordon performs down the stretch.

speaking of closers with questionable performances in the clutch... do ya think it's possible we can trade billy wagner for a quality starter and let duaner "dirty" sanchez close? wagner's good and all... very good even... and i'm not ready to throw him under the bus just because he's had 3 blown saves (one was on the second game of the year after he had little to no work in spring training and one was to a guy with 713 career homeruns... the pittsburgh one's the only one that worries me)... but the guy just runs his mouth waaaaay too much for my liking... first with the mariano rivera/enter sandman thing, now he's runnin' his mouth about the phillies... if you're a close and you're gonna run your mouth, you better be friggin lights out, otherwise you're just setting yourself up to look stupid and have the fans hate you.

I was @ Shea on Saturday and when Zambrano hurt his elbow and just ran off the field, everyone was like, "Does he have to p00p or something?" Usually you wait for a trainer or something to come out. It was weird.

Anyway, prior to the game my friend bets me $5 that Zambrano doesn't record 7 outs before being lifted from the game. Well, he pitched awesome and pitched a ninning and 2 thirds or something and leaves.

F*cking Zambrano !!@#@

Hot topic now is: Do you trade Milledge for Zito (who is in his last year of his contract)?

it's a tough question... they obviously have a team that can get to a world series this year.

short answer no, long answer maybe...

i would trade wagner for him and let dirty sanchez close but oakland wouldn't do that. it's not the "money ball" way.

considering how bad clifford floyd is hitting right now, we may be seeing milledge this season, so i wouldn't trade him for zito just yet... now if johan santana all of a sudden came available, adios mothafucka... but that ain't happening, so they should keep him.

they don't need zito... they need someone who's decent that can just bridge the gap. now if pedro or glavine were to go down... knock on wood... then they'd have to think more serious about getting zito. but they just need someone who's servicable right now. sorta what the yankees did last year when they brought in small, chicon and wong

I say put Heilman in the rotation. You know he's good, he's started before, and the bullpen is really looking better, even jorge julio. Ask julio to step up and be the set up guy in the 8th inning.

Headache, what if Dontrelle is available?

you don't think Oliver, Bradford, Jorge Julio, and Dirty Sanchez could hold down the fort for a while if you put Heilman in the rotation?

wonder when Solar (the cuban guy) and Pelfrey will be ready....
