Its not bitterness anymore, its pity, we pity the poor Yanks and their bloated payroll of disabled arms and aging steroid users.

If I were there, I'd have cheered his first at-bat and booed him thereafter. He is a Yankee, after all.

I don't buy the "every 2004 Red Sox should be cheered for life no matter what" bit. They got their accolades back in 2004 and 2005. This is 2006. Once you get one championship, you want another. And another. Perfectly natural, and nothing wrong with feeling that way. It's too bad Johnny Damon won't be part of that with the Red Sox anymore.

There shouldn't be any personal hostilities towards him, though. The Red Sox clearly wanted someone younger at CF, and the Yankees were really the only good fit for him. Can't blame him for doing what's best for his career and his family.

That's the class, propper response.

Actually, it's the right response.

to the cheer first then boo response.

he was a key fixture on the first world championship red sox team in 86 years... the least you could do is give him a pitty cheer.

We'll have forgotten all about Johnny Damon when Pedro takes the Fenway mound in June.

i would hope pedro gets a standing ovation if he is, indeed, on the mound when the mets come to fenway...

if willie has half a brain, seeing as he can already start adjusting the rotations 'cause hte mets have already clinched the NL East... he'll have it so Pedro pitches the tuesday night at Fenway, so that way he can also pitch the sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium 5 days later.

Joe Mooney should plant a mango tree at the Fenway mound for Pedro's start.

If there's one game I'd like to make it to at Fenway this year, it would be whichever one Pedro started.

That's only because the Bronson and the Reds aren't coming to town this season.

i can't tell you how much i hate the "shift"

and i can't tell you how much i hate that a lot of these guys don't just lay down a bunt.

i mean come on... giambi, ortiz, delgado, bonds... bonds is the only one who deserves it. the other three are great players and all... but ted williams they ain't

Ortiz does bunt, sometimes.

This just happened in tonight's Jays-Red Sox game:

Manny's on first, no outs, Trot Nixon batting vs. Roy Halladay. Nixon hits a bloop single into shallow left just over Troy Glaus's head. Seeing that Glaus has wandered into the outfield, Manny tries to take third base, apparently forgetting that there are no outs and that there are plenty of other guys who can cover the bag.

Halladay covers third, the throw comes in, and Manny sees that he's dead in the water. So he belly-flops headfirst into the bag, the throw glances off Halliday's glove and Manny lands safely on third.

Well, I guess you had to see it.

Manny being Rickey Henderson

I had a bad feeling about papelbon coming into a tie game...oh well, can't go a whole season with an ERA of Blutarski.

Welllllllllllllllll....the f'n Angels have lost 6 straight and are are trying to shake thing up. Mathis sent down, two other rookies making their major league debut today. So, 4 rookies at the bottom of the order. And I'm actually glad about that.
