just found this.
http://metanoodle.com/minesweeper/
the game is actually a very interesting application of a theory known as negative feedback. i had to write a take home exam last spring for my core communications class about negative feedback(a system remains 'inactive' until something goes wrong), it was the last night i had to do it and what am i doing? sitting playing minesweeper and talking on the phone when it hit me-the essay i had to write had to be about minesweeper!
good enough for an a- and my prof loved it.

How do you do that?!? No matter how fast I click, I always need at least 8 seconds before I'm finished. But 4... that' ridiculous.

As for my times, I'm not at home right now, but if I have to guess from memory it's something like this:
Beginner: 8 seconds
Intermediate: 45-50 seconds
Expert: around 120 seconds
(I'll try to look up my actual times tonight)

As for the game, it's hugely addictive. In fact all those simple Windows games are. I'm passed my Minesweeper addiction phase and did a cold turkey during my Solitaire addiction phase (ie. deleting the game from the harddisk). But they're cool.

C ya!

OK, I looked yesterday and I found my current minesweeper times!

Beginner: 11 seconds
Intermediate: 46 seconds
Expert: 110 seconds

Judging from the other scores, it seems that I need to play the Beginner's level a few more times.

C ya!

Marty
