Oasis- Don't Believe The Truth
Coldplay- X&Y
Aqualung- Strange and Beautiful (saw Brighter Than Sunshine on Vh1 and I had to get the album )
Lisa Marie Presley- Now What (one of my personal favorites even though most people think she has no talent )

I think the new Stones album was quite good aswell...

I also think Anna Nalick is a very talented new artist...she isn't in the top 10 but she's worth mentioning

and HelloAngel- I'd definitely put Final Straw and Hot Fuss on but weren't those released before 2005? (I think Snow Patrol definitely was...not sure about Hot Fuss)

No one's mentioned The (International) Noise Conspiracy's album Armed Love, which is actually a 2004 album, but it finally got a U.S. release a few weeks ago. I just saw these guys live on Monday and they are a great live band.

Also, no mentions yet of Paul McCartney's fine new album Chaos And Creation In The Back Yard.

I don't count albums released originally in 2004, in that case, I can count 'Funeral' by The Arcade Fire that was released this year in my country... but I don't know

i thought those were both pretty bad. t(i)nc has never been one of my favorite bands, though.

i know there are a bunch of things i'm forgetting and probably some i'd add to the list if i looked through and read this whole thread.

ramallah - kill a celebrity
dropkick murphys - the warrior's code
bruce springsteen - devils & dust
street dogs - back to the world
far from finished - east side of nowhere
ryan adams & the cardinals - jacksonville city nights
suicide machines - war profiteering is killing us all
the methadones - not economically viable*
alkaline trio - crimson
bouncing souls - live
squared off - standing strong
the pubcrawlers - another night on the floor
sharky doyles - back of the yards

*i don't really remember when this one came out, but i think it was sometime during the spring or early summer.

"Hope There's Someone"? listen to "Fell in live with a dead boy"... that's creepy

still my favorite album of the year, is like it takes your guts and throws them against the wall

9. Kaiser Chiefs - Employment
10. Elbow - Leaders of the Free World

The only thing I bought this year that I really, really liked was 'Push Barman To Open Old Wounds', but that don't really count.

A fantastic compilation. I say go ahead and count it. Is that truly the only thing you really, really liked all year?

It's the only thing I bought that I liked.

I didn't buy a lot, mind you, combination of laziness and fund-lacking, if not I'd have a longer list: I'm planning on getting at least the New Pornographers before Christmas and maybe the Spoon album as well.

What I bought this year (short list): Doves was disappointing for me, New Order was alright but wore out fast, and try as I might that Idlewild album didn't do anything for me either.

Some Cities was my first Doves album. I liked it, but I've heard better things about their older stuff. New Pornographers is a must have.
