I'm not thrilled by those forty seconds, but I also didn't like them at all when they first broke out. I like a few songs now, can't stand some others, so I bet that will be the case with the next record.

the new album is called Sam's Town, release date is October 2, 2006. the single 'When You Were Young' will be released on Sept. 18th, according to news on the Killer's message board (from billboard, i think)

The chorus vocals are interesting, actually.

A lot different from a lot of Hot Fuss, but I really like it. This is my most eagerly-awaited album of the year, I think.

Thanks for sharing!

I like it, sounds more of the same old killers, which is by no means a bad thing...

Music definitely continues with that signature Killers sound, but the lyrics are VERY Springsteen influenced . . . sounds like they could've been alternate lyrics for "Born To Run". hehehehehe

Hopefully, the album is good.

I never was really too into the Killers. I don't think this will put me there either. It does sound more like U2 though.

maybe it sounds more like Echo and the Bunnymen, or The Police, or Modern English??

U2 wasn't the only band from the '80s that influenced The Killers, contrary to popular belief.

Exactly my thoughts!

Very Springsteen-like lyrics and vocal-style.

Right...
Didn't Bono make somewhat similar grand proclamations around the "Boy" era? In interviews for "Boy" didn't he call U2 the next Beatles or Rolling Stones? I remember something about Bono stating that the 4 of them had the chemistry to be the biggest rock band in the world . . . to be the next Beatles or Stones.

And look what came of those statements.
