wins do matter, it shows how a pitcher keeps his team in the game.

however, the other stats i posted are by far a better way to gauge a pitchers value.

No matter what way you slice it , a pitcher CANT get a win without a team effort, obviously from the O.

A player just needs one swing to go yard, not relying on anything else, albeit craig counsell against jason schmidt or mark prior, or barry bonds vs. steve sparks or mr brau 1.

edit- im taking off for bed, see ya

Why?

A-Rod to the Yankees. What did the good people of Boston do to deserve this?

It's ok. Boston has the Partiots. NY has the Jets. It ALMOST evens it out.

What I don't get is why Selig was so set against A-Rod breaking his contract to go to Boston, but suddenly it's okay for him to go to New York... is there some detail I'm missing here?

Structure of the contract. Boston wanted to change it a little. NY will just pay it. Is their payroll $200 Million yet?

Oh I see. Thanks MrBrau! NY's payroll is going to be obscene this season... I can sense it

I feel if the Yankees don't win the WS for the 87th time this year, Georgie will start paying hitmen to attack other teams players in the playoffs. Hey, he's from NY.

that would be some incorrect info there...

selig wanted the trade to boston to go through. it was the players union that would not allow the boston-texas trade. in the collective bargening agreement that every owner but 1 agreed to, it clearly stated that a player's contract can not be restructured if the restructering lowers the overall value of the deal. you can change where the money goes, but you can't change the total amount of money. eventually you have to pay the guy what you agreed to pay him. the owners of the red sox, expos, brewers, braves, mets, cubs, giants, etc. etc. all agreed to this stipulation and all signed on to the collective bargining agreement. it was this part of the CBA that ended up screwing the red sox, who insisted on the deal being restructered. if boston would have agreed to take on another 13-20 million, the deal would've happened.

oh... and who might the one owner to vote against the CBA and that rule stipulation be?

you got it... george steinbrenner and the new york yankees. interesting how that works. the yankees end up being the benefactor of a CBA that they voted against because they claimed it would do nothing to help the competitive ballance of baseball because it would not force the small market teams to be players in the market.

babe f'ing ruth, bucky f'ing dent, aaron f'ing boone, alex f'ing rodriguez... collective f'ing bargening agreement

Yeah, that's my bad. I was a little confused there for a moment

Steinbrenner pisses me off sometimes... or, actually, most of the time. He needs to get a grip and lay off the power trips for a change, and maybe do something useful with all his money, instead of monopolizing baseball. But that's just my opinion.
