Search Warrant served on Michael Jackson's Ranch

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Investigators from the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office and Sheriff's Department searched entertainer Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch on Wednesday as part of an "ongoing criminal investigation," a spokesman said.

The search warrant was served at 8:30 a.m. (11:30 a.m. ET), said Chris Pappas, a spokesman for the sheriff's department.

A source close to Jackson said the singer was not at or near the ranch, but was in the country. The execution of the search warrant came as a "total surprise," the source said.

No details were released about what sparked the criminal investigation.

aaaaaand this small story has turned into a quite bigger one...

michael jackson was not at the ranch when the warrant was served, but police sources say that if he was, he would have been arrested on charges of child molestation. it's expected that he will be arrested shortly.

these alligations are based on what a 12 year old boy told his therapist. the therapist, by law, reported what the boy told him to authorities, which is california state law. shocking, yet most deffinetly not a shock all at the same time.

I'm just wondering when the parents of these kids are going to realize that its not such a hot idea to let Michael play babysitter.

Anyone who touches children either abusively or sexually is pond scum imho, but I also see Michael Jackson as a tragic figure- a talented musician who once had the world at his feet and is now a broken and disturbed man insulated by so much money and so many sychophants that no-one will get him the help he so desperately needs.

Without any proof, these allegations remain sickening and potentially very dangerous accusations to make. The word of a child must always be taken with the utmost seriousness, especially because of the nature of the claims but I always wonder what would happen if it was one day revealed that all these cases have only ever been opportunists using their children or infact a misguided child raising this for reasons not yet revealed. People would say there is grounds to support such an idea initially which there indeed are. The guy is for all intents and purposes unwell. It just doesn't always mean guilty. I dont want to actively disregard this as the potential to take sides with a possible child molester is disgusting, but on the other hand imagine if these are accusations on an innocent man? How would you feel, being innocent and accused of such a hideous act.
His erratic nature and the words of all these children this has come from must only start the search for the truth. Not be the basis for a final verdict.

hes (accused of being) bad

looks as though michael jackson might have finally pushed it too far.

I don't think he really deserves the benefit of the doubt anymore. I used to not believe it myself but it's gone way too far down the pike now. How sad for all involved. :tsk: :(

I WANT to give him the benefit of the doubt but I just cannot get past the fact that he has admitted publicly that he shares his bed with children.

I don't care how eccentric, different or misunderstood someone is...a 45 year old man has no business sharing a bed with children that aren't his.

And if it IS totally innocent, he needs to stop doing it because he's just opening himself up to these kinds of allegations.

I just can't believe it's ALL made up by kids trying to get money. Nobody ever makes up stuff like that on Bono, or Ice T, or mostly anybody else. This poor creature (MJ) is a different breed and needs some kind of help. But denying it now will only lead to more people being hurt. It has to stop one way or the other.

I remember last time we had this conversation, the thread ended up being closed because of fighting/bickering so just a little fyi lets debate in an adult manner.

Remember, "innocent until proven guilty". Granted, these are serious allegations. If he's indeed guilty of this stuff, he deserves to be punished. I think this is incredibly sad. This guy is so talented, why'd he have to become so f:censored:ked up too, if indeed these charges are true?

Don't worry. I'm not saying anything this time!! :reject: :silent:

okay this guy has always given me the "heebie geebies" and I always thought that he was guilty, I dont know why but I did. I just feel sorry for his family and for him bc he did it, It must be so horrible to see that as a headline in every newspaper and news station.

in the what the fucking hell are both of you thinking news, michael jackson's new single, off his just released greatest hits album, titled "one more chance," was written by none other than r. kelly... who is up on 40+ counts of child pornography. ya just can't make this shit up people

I really think he's mentally ill. It's very disturbing.

I don't know about the allegations, although it seems really strange to me that he sleeps with children in his bed and that these sorts of things have been reported on and off for years. There is definitely cause for investigation there.

Now I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but really, am I the only one wondering why the hell parents are sending their children for sleepovers to his ranch and the like? What in God's name would possess any parent to do this, especially given his history. It is incomprehensible to me. No, if something happened, it is not their fault, the blame rests solely with the guilty party, but I would like to think that people would have a little bit more foresight about whose hands they leave their kids in. YMMV, of course.

I really do think he's mentally ill and in need of help. No person who is balanced does the sorts of things he has done for the last decade and a half. There is something going on in his head, that much I'm sure of.

Well, the thing that struck me from that creepy special last year was that the kids look at Michael with total love in their eyes. Children who are abused do not look at their abusers like that. They have fear in their eyes, not love. I guess that's what the parents see.

He is not well, but is innocent until proven guilty, period.

You simply do not leave your children alone with an unrelated adult male who buys them presents and shares a bed with them. It doesn't matter if its Michael Jackson or John Smith..it's wrong and irresponsible.

Whether these parents were simply blinded by the fact that it was superstar Michael Jackson paying attention to their kids or chose to overlook the warning signs because of the money and gifts he gave them, they share the blame IF anything did happen to their children while they were with MJ.
