The new Pearl Jam album is going to be called "Riot Act" if anyone cares, and there is artwork for the first single "I Am Mine"

I just heard Pearl Jam's new single (read on)

It's called I am Mine. Here's how you listen. AOL keywords First Listen. It's great. Listen to the lyrics. I'm sure you know what they're about. Cool solo at the end. Post your thoughts here if you listen to it.

Now, I can't wait for the album!! And the set list looks so darn interesting!!! Thanks Autumn!!!

I don't want to raise anyone's ire (and I do appreciate those who have linked to the mp3), but, as one who has never been a huge Pearl Jam fan to begin with, I found the song to be a bit underwhelming - particularly for a first single.

Specifically, it sounded like little more than Eddie Vedder mumbling over a mid-temp Zeppelin song that really went nowhere in particular.

Just one man's opinion: feel free to disagree.

the selfish, they're all standing in line
faithing and hoping to buy themselves time
me, i figure, as each breath goes by
i only own my mind
the north is to south what the clock is to time
there's east and there's west and there's everywhere life
i know i was born and i know that i'll die
the in-between is mine
i am mine
and the feeling, it gets left behind
oh the innocence lost at one time
significant behind the eyes
there's no need to hide
we're safe tonight
the ocean is full cuz everyone's crying
the full moon is looking for friends at high tide
the sorrow grows bigger when the sorrow's denied
i only know my mind
i am mine
and the meaning, it gets left behind
oh the innocence lost at one time
significance behind the eyes
there's no need to hide
we're safe tonight
whoa!
and the feelings, they get left behind
oh the innocence broken with lies
significance between the lines
we may need to hide...
and the meanings, they get left behind
oh the innocence lost at one time
we're all different behind the eyes
there's no need to hide

Great lyrics...thanks for that David...and the artwork for the single. Much appreciated:hug:
I've heard thru the grapevine that some people saw ALL of the lyrics for every song for the new album. But I can't seem to find them anywhere. Someone told me the lyrics for the entire album were on 5 horizons but needless to say, they are NOT there.:yell: :madspit:

those, in my opinion, are truly great lyrics.

great lyrics, shitty song.

i was not impressed or touched in the least by how it sounded (sort of the same way i feel about Peace on Earth).

don't get me wrong, i'm a relatively big Pearl Jam fan, but i was disappointed.

i hope "i am mine" is not an indicator of the rest of the album.

Typical Pearl Jam goodness, though I wouldn't expect this song to be burnin' it up on the radio stations. Still, I'm sure myself and the rest of the band's loyal fanbase will help Riot Act sell 200,000 units in the first week despite it not really having a hit single.

Best Pearl Jam song I've heard in a long time, wont be a big hit, but who cares? I personally like groups who make songs for fans and themselves, not JUST to have a hit.

  You said it BABY:tongue:
Pearl Jam has never been interested in making big radio hits.
I love this song to bits.
Whoever said Eddie mumbled through the whole feckin thing needs to clear some wax outta their ears.:coocoo: :coocoo:
Peace and cheers,
Autumn
