Oasis' new album - album of the year.

Yes you've read correctly. Absolutely goddamn 100%, perfect.

The songs are just spectacular. If you know SOTSOG, Heathen Chemistry and even Be Here Now and don't like that direction... this smashes that in some minds mis-conception to pieces.

Lyla is probably the weakest song on the album..

This opens the show, it sounds nothing like Oasis of yore until the brothers start singing. Turn up the sun, crack open a Stella, light up a spliff and get ready for some clips....

Listen to this, and tell me Oasis isn't back and ready to return to the glory days. A B-SIDE, called Eyeball Tickler. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa.....

Also returning to fine form is the hero Noel Gallagher. Gone are the stinkers like Little By Little and She Is Love. All 3 of his numbers are equal to if not surpassing his best vocal achievment to date, Don't Look Back In Anger.

Part of the Queue....

Get ready, Oasis have returned.

Nah, I'm always up for something great from Oasis. I'm looking forward to this -- I've read so many good things about it, and I liked Lyla the first time I heard it.

I have to admit, every album they've released since Morning Glory has been hyped up to be their best yet (or at least as good as the first two). None have been, and that's what makes me highly skeptical. Every picture I've ever had painted for me of how good the album is going to be seems to always completely change when it's actually released, and when actual critics and fans get their hands on it.

Dont get me wrong, I've tried to like their stuff (and even have liked a number of the post Morning Glory singles). I just cannot help thinking and feeling that they've become a purely "hype" driven band. The hype seems to completely fuel all British press (and only British press I might add...), and obviously fuels the band itself (in almost every way imaginable). They seem to feed off each other, and forget there's anyone else who should matter. While this type of situation doesnt necessarily have to be a bad thing, I have an almost impossible time seeing how it's been good in relation to them.

I admit, I have no clue. Maybe it will end up being the greatest album of our generation. Maybe it will be almost completely forgotten and ignored (like all of their other post Morning Glory albums seem to have been outside of the UK itself). Who knows. I just have a hard time believing any of the hype any more. I'd like to, but I just cant.

All of that being said, I'm still hoping for the best.

The b-sides to Lyla (Eyeball Tickler and Won't Let You Down) are superb..and the album itself seems like it will be sensational..comeback of the decade if you ask me.

Oasis WAS my #1 band from '95 to '98 or so.

I'm looking forward to seeing them at MSG, and I've got to get this new album as soon as it is released...
