You know, Sci-Fi is part of NBC Universal, and with all the crap on regular TV, you'd think with the accolades this show has gotten (Peabody Award anyone?) that NBC would add it to its own schedule so it can get more of an audience.

It's one of the best shows on TV right now. I think it should be simulcast on NBC Friday nights so others who don't get Sci-Fi channel can check it out.

And then we'd get it in HD, too (don't get me started on that).

Definitely! I guess, being a first time viewer, I had never realized how interesting the show is in that regard... I watched a couple of the episodes during the marathon on Friday and one that I saw was the one where abortion came up. No flinching, they dealt with it. I'd never seen a show do that before.

Totally agreed. I found it offensive that they didn't even nominate the show for an Emmy. They had no excuse as the awards people were sent screening DVDs. Is it because it's on the "sci-fi" channel and therefore is pure sci-fi, that's why it can't make the cut?

Not sure why NBC doesn't show BSG on Fridays... since they own SCIFI I believe, but maybe there's some sort of contractual thing that doesn't allow them to show it. But then again, if they were able to show an ep or two like a year ago, they could manage something right?

I'm sure it could be done if they wanted to do it. There's a rumor floating around that NBC might make Battlestar a mid-season replacement, although that's probably not going to happen.

My own selfish reasons for wanting the show on NBC was so I could watch it in HD, as Sci-Fi isn't available in that format yet. I also liked the idea of a larger audience experiencing what BG is all about (since most people only know the original 70s version). But someone made a good point somewhere (can't remember where I read it) that if the show got moved to NBC, it might suffer from some of the controversial story lines, as it would be more noticeable on a major network. I like BG the way it is, dark and edgy, and would hate to see pressure from the outside change the dynamic of the show, and a move to NBC might inadvertantly do that.

So if they offered to show it on the Universal HD channel at the same time as Sci-Fi, at least I'd get it in HD without any of the risks.

As much as I think it would be cool to increase the number of people that would watch it, I think it would also be detrimental to the quality of the show. They'd probably have to bring back Boxey and the Moffet thingy, and all the dark storylines would need to be replaced by happy endings. All in all it would ruin the show, in my opinion. I would very much like to see their budget increase, but I'd rather the show remain good. It's the best show on TV and that's the way I like it.

Yeah, I agree that it could suffer somewhat if such a move were made.

Just put it on Universal HD at the same time, and I'll be happy.

My selfish reason for BSG on NBC: HD and I'm cable deprived, so I hate to wait for a tape of it two days later to see it.

Would be cool though if they did put it on network TV. Then maybe they could shed that whole 'pure sci-fi' "stigma" that they have.

For the love of all that is good and holy this show rules. This show kicks my ass into the ground without mercy, like I'm the proverbial redheaded stepchild. I need an ice pack.

I can't wait until this Friday's episode to see all hell break loose when Adama shows up.

I know. It's going to be ridiculous. I really want to know what the plan is. And I wonder if some major characters are going to die. I can't imagine a mission of this size withough casualties.

have only seen this show sporadadicly b/c I don't have cable.
In fact i think I missed most of season 2

However i did get to see the Story so far...then the 2 hour opening. And last week saw the second [& regular 1 hour ep].
Just so happened i was house sitting for a friend at these points.
WOOOHOOO!!!!!

Only now i go back to sporadic status

I'm thinking THIS TIME [season] go on, read reviews, and then watch it as i can at friends house.

BTW>>>>>>>
It reminds me of the quality of plot & characters of Babylon 5!
In fact the Newsday[nyc/LI] TV critic who loved B5, also really loved this early one.
