I watched Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash singing "It Ain't Me Babe" at the Bob Dylan Tribute Concert in Madison Square Garden about 10 years ago. That performance alone was worth the $200 I spent for a ticket. They were more vibrant and more joyful than any of the other acts, and the crowd adored them. When they left, I was screaming, "Come back! Come back!!!" and I wasn't alone.
Now they are together again, forever.
Heaven is so lucky to have them.
RIP Man In Black.

I knew it wouldn't be long after June passed. RIP to one of the greatest legends of American music.

A true American icon. I believe Johnny influenced many (if not all) bands in the rockabilly/western swing scene. Hell, I'm sure most of those guys worshipped him. A local L.A. artist, James Intveld -- the epitome of "cool" in that scene, does a nice job with "Ring of Fire." My friend's sister, a burgeoning folk singer who is receiving national recognition, came and saw Intveld and the one song she was really stoked to hear was Ring of Fire. People love Johnny Cash.

this is so very very very very sad.
He was much loved by my family.
I am shocked to read he was only 71, seems young to me. My dad, a BIG JC fan, just visited. A few people asked him his age, maybe cause he uses a walking stick and he is just starting to look elderly. I was amused and saddened by his reply somewhat.." I'm aiming for 87"...he only turned 86 recently. So every day, every year is a precious gift, not to be wasted.
Geez, it is an inevitable part of life, but it is still so sad when it happens
Thank you Johnny Cash, RIP...you and June can drive forever in that great Winnebago in the sky. You were loved by so many...I hear that train a-comin'
