Jewel Has Become Britney Spears!!

Yikes! I just heard Jewel's new song "Intuition" and I sweh ta gawd - it is just another Britney song.

In one stanza, she even rhymes something with "Charlie Sheen"

This from the same girl who lived in a VW van and sang in coffeehouses?

Normal

I lost interest in Jewel's music some time ago. I think she's too pretentious and she basically just annoys me.

She kinda lost me after album 2, but I was really looking forward to hernew stuff, esp since she had heralded it as being her 'best work ever.'

Why do artists feel they have to do that in order to sell records?

So, I guess the acoustic guitar is gone...

I just looked up the lyrics...

~~~~~~
I'm just a simple girl
In a high tech digital world
I really try to understand
All the powers that rule this land
They say Miss J's big butt is boss
Kate Moss can't find a job
In a world of post modern fad
What was good now is bad
It's not hard to understand
Just follow this simple plan
Follow your heart
Your intuition
It will lead you in the right direction
Let go of your mind
Your Intuition
It's easy to find
Just follow your heart baby
You look at me
but you're not quite sure
Am I it or could you get more?
You learn cool from magazines
You learn love from Charlie Sheen
If you want me let me know
I promise I won't say no
[CHORUS REPEAT]
You got something that you want me to sell
Sell your sin. Just cash in.
You got something that you want me to tell
You'll love me. Wait and see.
If you want me
Don't play games
I promise
it won't be in vain
Uh-uh-uh
[CHORUS]
Just downloaded it and gave it a listen...
Yeah...it sounds like it could very well be a Britney song. I wonder if all of her new songs are like this.
Well her story about living in the van and being discovered in a coffee house in San Diego was kinda cool and interesting but then a couple years after she gained fame, I read a story or two about her and her mom and in interviews (as far as I remember), Jewel and her mom came across as materialistic, self-centered people who had lost touch with reality. But I could well be wrong. Plus, I have to admit, there's just something about her stage presence that bugs me. She looks like she's trying too hard to be sincere.
