Is it just me or did Bill Murray look a bit ticked off at not winning best actor?

And Lord of the Rings sweeps!!

I respect the Oscars once again.

It's really a pity Master and Commander wasn't released in another year. That was a very good movie.

And I wish Johnny had won, just because.

i have been a fan of renee zellweger since she played starlene in love and a .45...way before jerry maguire. and who can forget empire records, lol.

i was thrilled to see her win.

bill murray has been playing bill murray for twenty years. how big a stretch is that over and over and over again? if johnny depp had to lose to anyone, i'm glad it was to sean penn.

i did see monster. i haven't had a film disturb me like that since i saw boys don't cry. it would have been a crime if charlize didn't get that oscar.

as for LOTR...it deserved every award it received. all three films were brilliant.

The best parts for me:

Annie Lennox singing and winning.

Jack Black and Will Ferrell presenting and singing 'You're Boring' (I don't know if that's the name or not).

Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara singing 'A Kiss at the End of the Rainbow'

Adrian Brody and his breath spray.

Tim Robbins acceptance speech.

The worst part:

3 hours and 45 minutes is still way too long.

that's the reason that if i do watch these things, i don't turn on the tv until 20 minutes after the tv guide said the show starts.

For the first time since I started watching the awards in 1993 there wasn't a single surprise winner. Last year it was Adrien Brody and Polanski, then there was Marcia Gay Harden and Juliet Bincoche. This year I suppose I was surprised at LOTR's winning every single category, but all of the big awards went to who everyone expected.

I thought Depp would edge out the competition, or I thought Kingsley would win by default due to the two comic performances of Depp and Murrary cancelling each other out. I knew Penn was the frontrunner, but I had a hunch he's lose because of his disregad and admitted hatred of Oscar's voting methods.

It seems Johnny Depp is getting a bunch of nods from the ladies of the forum, so I'll speak up for the guys and say that Susan Sarandon looked damn sexy, as did Renee (which I've never thought). Naomi Watts and Annie Lennox also dressed for success...and oh yeah...one more thing...they too were hot.

My choices would have been:

Best Picture: LOTR
Best Actor: Kingsley and Murrary (tie)
Best Actress: Diane Keaton
Supporting Actor: Tim Robbins
Supporting Actress: Women from "House of Sand and Fog"
Director: Peter Jackson

I know it was LOTR's year but I feel a bit for Peter Weir...he's one of the great directors.
