What is the maximum value of |r| for the following polar equations: a) r = cos(2θ); b) r = 3 + sin(θ); c) r = 2 cos(θ) - 1
max. value of cos(θ) and sin(θ) is 1, when θ=nπ/2 and nπ respectively.

so for a) max. value of r = 1

b) max. value of r = 3 + 1 = 4

and i'm stuck on c). :angry:

um, you're wrong puppy.

w=-4.0443741950591265659758810443742

and for your question:

k=1.162295178592479075798656135801

I'm not wrong. :no:

You're supposed to post the answer, not w and k. Those are just intermediate calculations.

Schrodinger is hot, everyone. Let's make a thread about Schrodinger's hair because it sure as hell is important.

How about the one about his cat? :drool:

You know the thing about not knowing whether it is really dead or alive as long as it is inside that box? - and in fact concluding that it has to be both at the same time!

i'll need to see a proof.

unless, of course, your dog ate your homework.

see above for a) and b).

c) min. value of cos(θ) = -1 when θ=π

so r = 2(-1)-1 = -2-1 = -3

therefore, |r| = 3

3w2847 + 34543 = ____.

w is supposed to be a digit in the decimal system.

w = letter number 22 in the alphabet ("a" is number zero, of course).

:love: 22 mod 10 = 2 :love:

322847+34543 = 357390

did you know that, apparently, if you divided that total length of a river by the length of said river if it travelled in a straight line the result would be about Pi?

looks like we made some pretty big assumptions there, puppy man. we'll have to wait for bear to correct our work using his special solutions manual.

oh, i know all about zoomerang's mind :sexywink:

that much is true.

hitman usually seems to be spot on. nice work there, again.

but please, as much as i know you en7oy math...don't make this thread what it was meant NOT to be. does that make sense?

no more game threads. :(

yeah, i only saw that now.

one can always count on the tuna to bring home the bacon, if you know what i mean...

good times.
