I might have to give that a try.

Closing with Stairway is intriguing.

The thing is Rock & Roll has to open the album. It just has to! It has opened a few 'driving music' compilations of mine in the past! Stairway is the ultimate finale.. nothing can beat it IMO. Whereas, Levee Breaks is a nice rocking end to Side A. Misty Mountain Hop is perfect as it is at the beginning of Side B. Initially I had California as the penultimate song but that makes the latter part of the album a little too acoustic sounding. Four Sticks works great in it's place as the droning rocker only to be followed by one of the greatest songs of all time.

great thread.
great setlist - i it works fantastically!
and thanks for injecting something interesting into this forum. great idea...

the thing is, the album sounds great as is, but i agree completely. how could you NOT open the album with 'rock 'n roll'. and stairway is a born closer. a big climax to a nice roll in the hay...
