Alright, let me rephrase.

Joy Division's best single.

And just for good measure:

what an addictive song. it was actually the song that got me into Joy Division.

the lyrics are a bit.. yeah, but the melody makes up for it

Don't take this as a flame, but the reason you've cited for not liking the song is kind of the point.

Quote:
When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won’t grow
And we’re changing our ways,
Taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again

Why is the bedroom so cold
Turned away on your side?
Is my timing that flawed,
Our respect run so dry?
Yet there’s still this appeal
That we’ve kept through our lives
Love, love will tear us apart again

Do you cry out in your sleep
All my failings expose?
Get a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Is it something so good
Just can’t function no more?
When love, love will tear us apart again
How could that ever be perceived as a "warm" song?

Some of those lyrics are wrong, actually.

But yeah, Joy Division is very cold, dark music. I mean, when this is a band's most upbeat single, that says a lot.

Ha, I wouldn't doubt it! It was almost four in the morning when I copied + pasted that, and I didn't bother to check if it was right.

But yes, if anyone's looking for happy clappy music in Joy Division, they've got the wrong band.
