OK, so tickets go on sale in seven hours (9am Central). No lineup has been announced, but a few acts have been confirmed: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Thievery Corporation, Iron & Wine, Blackalicious, Sonic Youth, and The New Pornographers. The lineup announcement is theoretically at the same time as the ticket-onsale. Tickets cost $130 for a three-day pass, so it better be a damn good lineup behind that price...

I do not have access to WXRT for the release of the bands...and they have yet to put them on the website.

In other Chicago Summer Music Festival news....INTONATION has announced headliners: Streets and Bloc Party. I think I may go to Day two (Bloc Party) knowing I have a family commitment in Rural Minnesota on day 1. Should be a fun weekend!

Chili Peppers, Kanye, Wilco Lead Lollapalooza Lineup
March 16, 2006

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kanye West and Wilco lead the lineup for this summer's Lollapalooza, which will be held Aug. 4-6 in Chicago's Grant Park. The event will also feature Common, Manu Chao, Queens Of The Stone Age, the Shins, Death Cab For Cutie, Matisyahu, Ween and Jack White's new band, the Raconteurs, Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell announced today (March 16).

Tickets for the show are on sale now. A recent unannounced presale cleared through 3,000 $45 three-day-passes in just over 30 minutes.

Additional acts confirmed for Lollapalooza include Flaming Lips, Ryan Adams, Sonic Youth, Thievery Corporation, Sleater-Kinney, Broken Social Scene, New Pornographers, Secret Machines, Gnarls Barkley, Cursive, Stars, Calexico, Nada Surf, Nickel Creek, Lady Sovereign, Feist, the Frames, Sparta, Jeremy Enigk, Wolfmother and Eels.

Despite oppressive heat, more than 30,000 attended each day of last year's two-day Lollapalooza in Grant Park. It was the first stationary event in the event's history, which stretches back to the first tour in 1991 when Farrell's band, Jane's Addiction, served as headliner.

Very, very solid lineup.

Oh man now I'm even more excited for the ACL announcement.

I got lucky and bought one of the $45 tickets they released a few weeks ago. This will be my first music festival, so I'm pretty excited.

I would have done this for the $45... but $150 (with fees/shipping) I think is too much for this.

Oh yeah, there's absolutely no way I would be going if I had to pay full price. I definitely don't blame you.

I got a couple $45 tickets ($60+ with stupid charges/shipping), and I'm a bit underwhelmed by the announced lineup. Red Hot Chili Peppers? Who would fork over $115 for them, who hasn't seen RHCP that would in fact want to? Sonic Youth and some others are good groups, don't get me wrong, but they seem like requisite festival acts at this point...nothing new. I see Bloc Party is headlining a festival in Chicago in June, not *there's* an act I'd have wanted to see at Lolla. No Pumpkins/Corgan, either. Hopefully there is in fact more to come...

^ Intonation!

It was a good festival last year...and CHEAP!

I like the lolla line-up (minus RHCP), but just not sure about the price.

Acts I'm excited about:
Wilco
Death Cab
Raconteurs
Flaming Lips
The Shins
New Pornographers
Iron & Wine
Eels
Andrew Bird
Stars
Editors
Nada Surf
Feist
Go! Team
Mates of State
Subways
Of Montreal
Broken Social Scene
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Sonic Youth
Sound Team
Jeremy Enigk!
Ween
Ryan Adams

This is going to be a great festival.
