it is kind of a perfect insight into the liberal post-9-11 mindset. she wrote it, or wrote the first draft, right afterwards, and started performing it that fall/winter and it changed a little. but it's angry, and it still has this deep sense of we were all there, kind of patriotism that's righteous and aware, and i love the train metaphor - oh shit that's right, you are gonna go crazy.
