LB, OC, LA folks: Blood needed

I hesitated to post this, and mods, if you think this is inappropriate, please delete it if you think you should.

My mother's good friend's teenage daughter has a rare cancer that has spread to her bone marrow. She's at Long Beach Memorial, and the doctors there have never seen her type of cancer spread to the bone marrow before. She's got a bone marrow donor lined up, but she needs blood donated in her name at the hospital. If you feel that this is something you may be able to do, please PM me and I'll get the details to you. Any blood type is ok because it's replacement blood; blood to be deposited to replace whatever she uses.

Thanks,

Martha

Mr. BAW would be happy; unfortunately, for the past 25 years, I've taken a cocktail of medications for my psoriasis that prevent me from donating blood, EVER!

God bless you for your efforts and we hope for the best!

Good luck to your friend martha.
It's summer holiday time here and I have heard a representative from our Aussie blood bank send out the annual SOS for more donors. They are critically short in a couple of groups.
I suppose we are just learning more( I hope that is what is is) but it's a common story about illness these days it seems,"We have never seen that happen before". My friend dealing with breast cancer at the moment has been told they have never seen such a progression in a woman so young.
Good luck.

Martha if your moms friends daughter could / can receive blood from the east coast I would gladly give.

On another note, blood is actually low all over the states right now if I am correct. I am sure donations anywhere would be of good use to someone...which reminds me i need to do so now that I recovered.

Martha,

i'm not a premium member so can't IM you. Unfortunately, I just saw your post.

I realize it's almost 2mo. on now, but if for some reason your friend still needs a donation, PLEASE let me know because I am due to give again and I work VERY close to Long Beach Memorial.

Email me directly at jcook@africanwellfund.org.

Cheers,
JULIE

Yeah, she became too weak for the bone marrow transplant and passed away on Friday night. She was 15.

Julie, you can still donate for others who need it. You're a doll.
