Last minute lodging in NYC...suggestions or advice??

Hi,

A friend and I are leaving from Texas for NYC tomorrow and will be staying thru Sunday. However, our accommodations have fallen through, and I'm left scrounging for cheap last minute options.

We're going for him to attend an orientation at Columbia, so we were looking at staying somewhere in that area. But at this point anything will do. The only problem being that we're both students with a very limited budget.

Also I've never been to New York before and he's only been twice, so we're feeling a little lost.

Any suggestions or advice?

There are plenty websites out there that give a detailed listing of cheap/affordable NYC hotels. Run a query thru Yahoo Search or Google and you'll find something.
