Ruben Blades is from Panama. I have his Tiempos CD, it's very good.

You've got to cry without weeping

Scream without raising your voice

Hey Bono-vox! I also like "La Oreja de Van Gogh". But let me recommend you a great band from Chile : LA LEY . The frontman is a real good composer and singer (not mentioning he's a HOT TAMALE) you should listen to them. You won't regret it

If you are looking for Spanish bands you should check out a band called "Heroes del Silencio". They broke up a few years ago but their music was amazing! Now, the former singer of the group has a pretty succesful solo career. His name is Enrique Bunbury and in some strange way he reminds me of Gavin Friday. Don't ask me why! lol

If you like U2, then you will like Fito Paez from Argentina. He is amazing. I suggest you pick up one of the best CD's I've ever heard and obviously his best, called "Abre" ("Open"). Every song is a classic, and of course the best one is "Al Lado Del Camino". Great melodies/lyrics, much like U2.
