You mean Polly? Cleese and Connie Booth were married when the first series was made in 1975. In 1979, when the second series was made, they were actually divorced but still co-wrote the thing.

That is one of my all-time favourite Manuel moments.

Though my favourite is from Communication Problems when Basil says "I could be having this conversation for the rest of my life. Please try to understand before one of us dies!"
