should i believe jose canseco? no.

do i believe mark mcgwire took steroids? i honeslty have no clue.

all i was doing was simply pointing out the hypocrisy showed by most fans when it comes to the whole steroid issue.

Barry Bonds? Obviously... he HAD to have done steroids. look at him as a rookie, look at him now. He's twice as big.

Mark McGwire? No way. He just used andro.

It's the entire thing I always said durring the whole Bonds thing... did he use steroids? probably... but, up until the BALCO testimony came out, there was no PROOF of that. People just assumed Bonds did... largely due to the fact that Bonds is considered to be an A-hole, thanks to the media.

McGwire was not the a-hole durring the whole 98 homerun chase, despite what some have claimed. He was "standoffish" in the past with the media, but by no means was he ever the vilified figure that Bonds has become. And in the summer of 98 mcgwire AND sosa were beloved by everyone. It was great for baseball. no one tried to put either of them down. even the whole andro thing blew over within a week. the two of them were icons, on every publication in america.

but the same arguments made about bonds, that he's soooo much bigger than before, can be made about mcgwire, sosa, and a slew of other top athletes... for example...

my point... and what my point has always been... is that we shouldn't just randomly accuse great athletes of being on steroids because of a massive increase in size from their rookie season. is michael jordan on steroids? i'd be shocked... everyone would be shocked. but look at him at carolina, and look at him later on with chicago. he's twice as big... his HEAD is significantly bigger. so should we accuse him of being on steroids? of course not... because there's no proof. you would just be making an assumption based upon nothing more than the fact that he's bigger than he was.

I don't think that is McGwire in the 'after' picture...

Maybe Bonds, McGwire and Jordan are just guilty of drinking too much beer....

Yeah, that looks like McGwire's step-brother...Lyle...Lyle McGwire. I think that's his name. Lyle

My thoughts:

*Canseco is an type of idiot who needs money to maintain his prior lifestyle as a hot-stud ballplayer. Therefore, he shouldn't be given blind allegiance to everything he says. Also, he only mentions players he personally knows took such drugs. This leads me to believe that he disrespects all the power hitters around him (but doesn't mind those he never played with), or that he's telling the truth

and

*McGwire, Sosa, Giambi, Bonds all went from decent 30-40 home run seasons to 50-70 home run seasons in a matter of a season. A single season. This is EXTREMELY suspicious. Even Babe Ruth worked his way up to milestone of 60...bit by bit. Hank Aaron never hit over 40-something in a single season...nor did Willie Mays have a single season or two when he appeared uncharacteristically powerful. McGwire went from hitting no more than 49 in a season to hitting 70, then 65. Sosa went from 40-something to 66 in a single year...and Bonds went from 40-something to an unbelievable 73!

Jose's twin brother Ozzie played baseball, but never could quite break into the majors.
Dan McGwire was a football player all the way.

I thought it was intended to slag off the Pacers' home arena, or something like that.
