I just realized why Jordin Sparks gets on my nerves so much. She reminds me of Taylor Hicks' worst personality traits.

First of all, she mugs for the camera -- have you ever seen a picture of her when she looks calm? No, she's raising her eyebrows or grinning like the Cheshire Cat or doing some do-dah thing with her fingers. Second, her fake tears are every bit as obnoxious as Taylor's "soul patrol!" and her teeny-bopper act is the equivalent of his soul singer persona.

While both of them have voices, their personalities are what sold them on viewers, and what will quickly wear just as thin. By contrast, the two Idol winners who have done the best -- Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood -- didn't have "personalities" on the show. Only later did they craft them. While Chris Daughtery isn't anything but a rocker, he was wise enough to pick his lane, stick to it, and regroup after losing. My prediction: we'll get sick of her fast just as did of Taylor.

If I have to read one more post on a message board saying how fake Jordin is, I'm going to kick a puppy.

Nothing personal, silvrlvr. I just think she's been unfairly maligned. "Now she's crying, now she's not! OMG FAKE!" Come on, she's 17, on TV in front of bazillions of people and under a lot of pressure.

As far as her mannerisms, you're going to pick on her for grinning or raising her eyebrows? Um .... what? She's a bubbly 17 year old. What do you want her to do? Stand there solemnly and say "thank you" in a demure little voice? I think THAT would be fake, based on what we've seen from her.

I'm reserving judgement to see what kind of CD she puts out before I compare her to anyone else.

I love Taylor, I'm not sick of him. I still proclaim my love for him loudly and proudly, and he is the only AI contestant whose album I've bought so far. I don't like Jordin though. She's got a good voice, but she just doesn't do anything for me. She hasn't stirred up enough interest for me to actually be curious about what she's going to do next, unlike Taylor.

I'm not taking it personally, but she's into this a little too much for my taste. It's reminding me of those Broadway Kids, not of a normal 17 year old who just happens to be talented. Too calculated, in other words.

You're right, her album will tell the tale.

Well yeah, I agree she's into it. I guess I don't see anything wrong with wanting to be a successful pop star. She certainly found the right venue for her to go after that.

I mean, it's the whole point of American Idol - to be a pop star! If that's not what you want, you shouldn't be trying out for the show.

(Chris Daughtry ... oh, sorry - DAUGHTRY, I'm talking to you. Stop bitching about people associating you with American Idol. If not for the show, you would be abso-fucking-lutely nowhere. So shut it, accept the reasons you are where you are graciously, and go put on some more eyeliner.)

I agree with you silvrvr! She always got on my nerves because of those giggles and esp. that heart shaped shaped sign she did all the time with her fingers! :scream: That said, I agree that she is only 17 and very bubbly or whatever. Doesn't mean I didn't find it annoying! lol

Oh and I didn't ever doubt the tears.

The only winner I can stand is Kelly Clarkson. For me, the novelty of the show has worn off, but for the other 30 million people watching, I guess it has not.

Kelly Clarkson

Yes. You fail at enjoying catchy, well-written pop tunes. Which means you fail at life.

In the ongoing battle between Kelly and Our Dread Lord Clive Davis (tm GolightlyGirl), Team Kelly all the way. I hope her album sells bazillions and shuts him up, but good.

Not sure if this is the right thread but
Bo's next cd is coming out in September, this according to his myspace.

His new producer is Frank Liddell (also Dixie Chicks producer) which confirms he is now free from Clive Davis (yay!). Bo has been introducing his new songs he has written or co-written in his recent acoustic gigs starting in New York and so far the response has been great. I like what I've seen and heard so far. Definitely a kickass album than the first one.

I'd probably sing along with them and enjoy them, but it's not going to make me like Kelly any less!
