In case you guys didn't know, Wilco just released a 6 song ep in Australia. The tracklist is:

1 - Camera
2 - Handshake Drugs
3 - Woodgrain
4 - Magazine Called Sunset
5 - Bob Dylan's 49th Beard
6 - More Like the Moon

Camera is an awful version of Kamera, just hideous.
Tracks 2-5 are beautiful, with Magazine Called Sunset (a bright, sort of Beatlesesqe song) a highlight.
More Like the Moon is the most brilliant and wonderful song I've heard in a long time.

I've heard Magazine and Bob Dylan's Beard, both of which I love. I've also heard Camera...not sure how I feel about this yet. Probably not my favorite track of all time, but interesting to hear where else they might have gone with the song.

I was trying to wait until the EP comes out here to buy it and hear the rest of the songs (as opposed to downloading them) but my resolve is slowly wearing down.
SoulSeek: Giiiiiiinaaaaaa....*beckons* :flirt: :sexywink:

When I was in St. Louis a month ago, my friend pointed out the Casino Queen to me, which the song is about. There it was, floating on the Mississippi, right next to the arch. Next time I'm there she's going to take me to the Landing, which is name dropped in Heavy Metal Drummer. We'll be there in shiny, shiny pants. :D I need to see them in concert!!!!!!!!! Glad you both had such a great time!

LOL!! That's really freakin cool.

Is it sad that now I really want to go to St. Louis to see those places? :shifty:

I should take some pics for you next time I'm in town (March...).

:)

Well they're the local boys there...there's got to be more Wilco-related stuff in the area...I'll have to find them...hehe...

OK...just got an email from my friend who lives in St. Louis and we were discussing the Landing. Here's her input:

"Ah, The Landing. Laclede's Landing, but here everyone just calls it The Landing. We drove past it when we zoomed by the Arch before you went to the airport. It's still got the original cobblestone streets. Lots and lots of cheesy clubs and bars. The only good one is Mississippi Nights, which is a pretty good music venue. Lord knows Wilco has played there many times. There's always lots of music on The Landing. They have the St. Louis Jazz Festival in the spring, and the blues festival Labor Day weekend. The rest of the time, it's usually cheesy-ass cover bands. :)"

Well, enough from me for now!

They are great live-I saw them last fall at the Ryman Audiorium in Nashville (which seats a couple of thousand). Their new album has cohesive and ambient quality that they were able to duplicate in the live show. Tweedy really pours it all out on stage and you feel like you are part of an intimate event (at least when I saw them).

I have them up on soulseek. I'm user "ComesInSpurts" (a musical reference, believe me ;) )

Good luck!

I love this thread and I saw Tweedy and the boys last night in Lexington, Ky. It was a smaller venue with great acoustics! I think they played the gig because thier drummer is a University of Ky alum. Jeff mentioned this several times and the drummer went off! He was great

I wish I had a set list but they did play for 2 solid hours and played almost everything I wanted them to, (including California Stars), even a Uncle Tupelo track for good measure....

Great, great show......but right now Im damn tired, and I see Idlewild tonight.....

btw- all the tracks they played from Being There were fabulous.....I love that album....

Hey! Cool!!! That's awesome that you got to see them! Glad to hear you enjoyed it, but, then, it's hard not to like a Wilco show. ;) Mirrorball Girl and I saw them perform with the Minus Five last week and it was hell of a lot of fun. But I swear at some point I *WILL* see a actual Wilco show. ;)

Anyhoo, here's the setlist for ya:

Sunken Treasure
Less Than You Think
IATTBYH
Kamera
War on War
Company in My Back
Poor Places
I'm The Man Who Loves You
At Least That's What You Said
Jesus, etc.
HMD
Hesitating Beauty
Cali Stars
Red-Eyed and Blue
I Got You

E1
A Shot in the Arm
Misunderstood
Far, Far Away
New Madrid

E2
Monday
Outtasite
Kicking Television

Damn. That's a nice setlist.

This one I had never heard before......Holy Shit! THeres a company in my back........

was a good one....

That song (Company in my Back) was premiered at the 4/16 Minus 5/Wilco show. I'm dying to hear it!

UPDATE....

Wilco Make New EP Available for Download
Are they trying to break our balls?
Marnie Christenson reports:
As we recently reported, Wilco shelved their long-anticipated Kamera EP. Or did they? Nope. They lied-- or maybe pulled another one of their grazy publicity stunts-- and now the EP is available to either download for free in MP4 format if you're a proud owner of a legitimately purchased copy of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, or to listen to via a Quicktime stream if you're not. The guys even put up some slick-ass cover art to boot. Oh, and, um, it's not called Kamera, it's called More Like the Moon. The official Pitchfork Newswire CD-R copy now reads: More Like the Moon/ Kamera/ Camera/ More Like the Moon EP. It's ------' ugly!

Turns out that enhanced Yankee Hotel Foxtrot CD-- you know, the one that bugs the living shit out of you when all you want's just want to listen to it on your computer-- is good for something after all. You just drop the CD into the tray, and click "Skip Intro". Then connect to the web and at the menu, click on the link to "Wilcoworld.net." You will then be taken to a supersecret special page that hooks you up with the download. (You'll need Quicktime 6, too.) Although, if you needed these instructions in the first place, you're probably my dad and prone to inserting CDs into the tray upside down and shit.

The More Like the Moon EP was originally issued in Australia in January as a bonus disc to the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot release there. In other words, it's been available on your favorite file-sharing system (as have all the incredibly weird album demos, but that's another story) since the time it took to rip the first copy immediately after that. The EP was originally slated for release domestically, but Tweedy & Co. apparently had a change of heart, concluding that they'd rather just say "thanks." All like, you know, for the kids stylie. As the band's digital strategist (they have a ------- digital strategist?!), Ken Waagner, told the Chicago Tribune, Wilco decided "that they didn't want to sell a 21-minute record for 10 bucks or whatever it would cost to get into stores." The kindness!

And so, the issue is settled. One more time, just for grins, here's the tracklist:

01 Camera
02 Handshake Drugs
03 Woodgrain
04 A Magazine Called Sunset
05 Bob Dylan's 49th Beard
06 More Like the Moon

These six songs include one outtake from the Yankee Hotel Foxtrot sessions, "A Magazine Called Sunset", and a grittier version of "Kamera"-- which warranted the harder "c" instead. The remaining four songs are a glimpse of the latest Wilco lineup: Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt on bass, Glenn Kotche on drums, Leroy Bach on various instruments, programmer Mikael Jorgensen... and a digital strategist to be named later.
