Jason's Mix CD/Caption game

That's right, a stroke of genius. I am starting a new weekly game. I will post an image the size of a CD insert, your task is to at the very least suggest a title for a Mix CD using that cover. The ambitious or procrastinatorially inclined among us are also encouraged to create tracklistings, not to exceed one CD-R's length. Seeing as this is the first week, I shall start us off with two. I have ideas for both captions, but I won't post them until I have a tracklisting.

The "fun" one

The "serious" one

i hate titles. aren't my track listings pretentious enough? titles only increase that factor.

am i doing this right?

they're both for the second picture.

1. bruce springsteen - stolen car
2. dishwalla - counting blue cars
3. atheneum - flat tire
4. barenaked ladies - everything old is new again
5. manic street preachers - motorcycle emptiness
6. the bruisers - 40 miles of bad road
7. rev horton heat - galaxy 500
8. eve 6 - enemy
9. creedence clearwater revival - lodi
10. mark linskey - alter of the open road
11. bruce springsteen - used cars
12. tom petty & the heartbreakers - learning to fly
13. joe strummer & the mescaleros - bummed out city
time: 53 min 52 seconds

1. ryan adams - starting to hurt
2. bob dylan - like a rolling stone
3. social distortion - bad luck
4. the blue bloods - left out in the cold
5. greg graffin - maybe she will
6. foo fighters - walking after you
7. dinosaur jr. - feel the pain
8. dirty water - second son
9. mike ness - cheating at solitaire
10. lucero - wasted
11. rick barton & the shadow blasters - the poison
12. the beltones - my old man
13. the rolling stones - dead flowers
14. the replacements - here comes a regular
time: 56 min 34 seconds

i think i like mix 2 better. it's more cohesive, if you can follow my warped logic anyway. mix 1 is mainly just depressing car songs...

The titles for the mix CDs are "cock-a doodle-doo" and "lost romance". The first is American folk music (dance, yankees!), the second´s a mix of boring love songs, Elton John, Bon Jovi and the like.

Yeah. Actually I was lurking in UL's Liam Neeson appreciation out in Zoo Station and there was a comment on how it'd make a great album cover; seems our Jason took that advice to heart.

When I look at that picture I think of Tom Waits' songs for some reason. I probably couldn't even name more than three Tom Waits' songs, to be honest, but it gives me that vibe.

I would title the first one "Cock Rock" and it would be a mixture of those awful (in a good way! ) hair band songs from the 80s like "Cherry Pie" etc.

Still thinking about the second one...

I recommend going back and looking at who made that comment.

No Distance Left to Run
1. Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division
2. With or Without You - U2
3. Cup of Coffee - Garbage
4. Without You I'm Nothing - Placebo w/ David Bowie
5. I Know It's Over - The Smiths
6. On Your Own - The Verve
7. No Distance Left to Run - Blur
8. Black - Pearl Jam
9. Guess I'm Doin' Fine - Beck
10. How Do You Keep Love Alive? - Ryan Adams and the Cardinals
11. Last Goodbye - Jeff Buckley
12. The Cage - Travis
13. I Wish I Were Blind - Bruce Springsteen
14. Yesterday - The Beatles
15. Butterfly - Weezer

This may be the most abysmally depressing CD I've ever made. And I've made a few.
