That's right, a stroke of genius. I am starting a new weekly game. I will post an image the size of a CD insert, your task is to at the very least suggest a title for a Mix CD using that cover. The ambitious or procrastinatorially inclined among us are also encouraged to create tracklistings, not to exceed one CD-R's length. Seeing as this is the first week, I shall start us off with two. I have ideas for both captions, but I won't post them until I have a tracklisting.

The "fun" one

The "serious" one

:hyper: i knew i didn't actually need to go to sleep tonight.

be back with a substantial post in a bit.

i hate titles. aren't my track listings pretentious enough? titles only increase that factor.

am i doing this right?

i think i like mix 2 better. it's more cohesive, if you can follow my warped logic anyway. mix 1 is mainly just depressing car songs...

The titles for the mix CDs are "cock-a doodle-doo" and "lost romance". The first is American folk music (dance, yankees!), the second´s a mix of boring love songs, Elton John, Bon Jovi and the like.

Second CD I will title Liam Neeson's Greatest Hits.

 is that really him? i thought i was just seeing things.

Yeah. Actually I was lurking in UL's Liam Neeson appreciation out in Zoo Station and there was a comment on how it'd make a great album cover; seems our Jason took that advice to heart.

When I look at that picture I think of Tom Waits' songs for some reason. I probably couldn't even name more than three Tom Waits' songs, to be honest, but it gives me that vibe.

it would, though.

yes, i see what you mean about the tom waits thing. hmm. and i don't think i could name more than three tom waits' songs either. i might have to do something about this.

:hmm:

and i was planning on putting a live clip of the barenaked ladies doing the chicken dance on the chicken one.

I recommend going back and looking at who made that comment. :sexywink:

I would title the first one "Cock Rock" and it would be a mixture of those awful (in a good way! ;)) hair band songs from the 80s like "Cherry Pie" etc.

I thought the same thing! (well, except that I actually do consider those hair band songs awful...and not in a good way... :) ).

And I would put a picture of fried chicken on the back of the cd.....

Excellent tracklistings... and being pretentious is part of the fun.

:hmm: being pretentious is probably all of the fun. i know i'll never get a "OMG i luv ur track listing" here because of my tendency to throw on a bunch of obscure shit (although i think mine had plenty of things people should know and were more mainstream than my normal mixes).

your track list is mucho  by the way.

:hmm: now i have something to think about at work tonight. much better than reading about peter the great

I'm glad to be of service. :) I've been listening to so much Tom Waits lately that he's going to have to come into play somehow. So I think the centerpiece of my mix is going to be "A Sight for Sore Eyes," but I'm not sure yet.
