i've seen it all - björk & thom

people should talk more about this fabulous collaboration of two of the most talented artists of our time. it's gorgeous.

I've seen it all, I have seen the trees,
I've seen the willow leaves dancing in the breeze
I've seen a friend killed by a friend,
And lives that were over before they were spent.
I've seen what I was - I know what I'll be
I've seen it all - there is no more to see!

You haven't seen elephants, kings or Peru!
I'm happy to say I had better to do
What about China? Have you seen the Great Wall?
All walls are great, if the roof doesn't fall!

And the man you will marry?
The home you will share?
To be honest, I really don't care...

You've never been to Niagara Falls?
I have seen water, its water, that's all...
The Eiffel Tower, the Empire State?
My pulse was as high on my very first date!
Your grandson's hand as he plays with your hair?
To be honest, I really don't care...

I've seen it all, I've seen the dark
I've seen the brightness in one little spark.
I've seen what I chose and I've seen what I need,
And that is enough, to want more would be greed.
I've seen what I was and I know what I'll be
I've seen it all - there is no more to see!

You've seen it all and all you have seen
You can always review on your own little screen
The light and the dark, the big and the small
Just keep in mind - you need no more at all
You've seen what you were and know what you'll be
You've seen it all - there is no more to see!

A stunning song.

The lyrics especially speak to me. Finding the beauty in a drop of water, a tiny spark, the simple things. Contentment, and not needing anything more in life to fulfill you.

watch the movie!!

It was particularlly good on the big screen with the big sound

and I remember seeing bjork
with the sugar cubes
come out on a stage in a run down hotel in los angeles at 3:30 in the morning

well even then
I realize I had seen and heard something very special

I saw them open for U2. But I honestly don't remember much.

Can't wait to see Bjork again in a couple of weeks at Red Rocks.

yes,
that is the difference in seeing

an opening act at a big show

and a great band, at a small venue

that is why I tried to see Antony at a club in San Diego

That night the cubes were playing on some bill with 4 bands

and i had come and waited just to see them

Indeed...and with the big show being ZooTV, the Sugarcubes never had a chance with me, unfortunately.

But I've grown since then.

Yes, there are two versions. Thom sings on the offically released version on the soundtrack for Dancer In The Dark, whereas in the actual film, the actor sings Thom's part.

My friend LOVES Bjork but he doesn't know who Thom Yorke is. So back when the soundtrack came out he was playing me the song and I remember being blown away because I'd never heard Thom sing that low before. And my friend was like, "That's low?" And I replied, "For Thom Yorke it's extremely low!"

Good song.

'What about China? Have you seen the Great Wall?
All walls are great, if the roof doesn't fall!'

One of my favourite lyrics ever.

I prefer the 'Overture' and the lyrical version - 'New World' more...

Breathtaking stuff. Also 'Dancer in The Dark' just breaks my heart.

I still remember watching Dancer in the Dark. I've never been so stunned and unable to speak at the end of a film.
