Koalas are only awake 4 hours out of every 24. The reason is that in those 4 hours they eat enough eucalyptus leaves to get them almightily high, so they just pass out for the next 20, the only other thing they may do in those 4 hours awake is have a quick shag. (Quite the lifestyle)
Anyway, for those 4 hours awake they are the grumpiest bastards and as cute as they look can be quite vicious.

Sound like a good mascot for your kingdom?

Indeed, I've read that they're not as good as they're portrayed to be...
Their only source of food is the Eucalyptus trees. And scientists have observed that if you take them away from these trees (which they happen to contain some kind of mild narcotic

), they become violent and vicious! This shows how addicted they are to this thing.
