he talks too much...someone also needs to tell him swearing that excessively gets really tiresome.

thanks for posting that, hitman.

indeed. did you try the link? i actually cut out the parts where he rambled on and then at the end went, 'what was the question again?'

I feel that any genuine producer worth his salt should be all over the fucking tune.
i think this is SO true in his case - he almost obscures what the band is doing.

i thought it was interesting to note that bss got turned down for a factor grant, and that the next album may be quite different, as he will be 'less of a producer and more of a collaborator'.

I have suddenly gone stark raving mad for BSS.

And it's all your fault. Everyone of you.

I may be seeing their show in Paris on December 16 with The Most Serene Republic.

Now if someone could go ahead and clear up the whole riot situation... that would be great. Mmmmkay?

Man. I was cleaning out my desk at work last week and was sorting through some old newspaper clippings. On the back of some article that I had cut out, there was a spread on Broken Social Scene. They were playing at a local bar, supporting YFIIP. I couldn't believe it. I'm always griping about Memphis not getting many good shows. And here's one of my favorite new bands playing here about 18 months too soon in a place that holds about 150 people. They will probably never play here again, unless it's a 35 minute festival slot.

FWIW, the new material, which I've heard on some bootlegs from this past summer, sounds much better live than on the new album, IMO.

I had a choice of 8 BSS threads to bring up for this and I don't know why I chose this one. It's pretty much for the ongoing discussion between myself and lmj.

Anyway...

I just finished YFIIP for the first time and it's really excellent. I'm glad I started listening to them. Tell me more about this EP you spoke of.

the 'ep to be you and me' was released with the initial pressings of the latest bss cd.

tracklisting:

her dispapearing theme
canada vs. america
baroque social
no smiling darkness/snale charmers association
all my friends
major label debut (fast)
feel good lost reprise

i think it's worth it for canada vs. america and the fast version of major label debut.

a bit of background: bss had been playing the fast version of the song at live shows for quite a while, and then went and recorded a slow for the cd proper, which kinda threw everyone for a loop.

i've warmed up a bit to the slower version, i heard feist sing it on 'morning becomes eclectic' and it was phenomenal, but i still prefer the fast version. in fact, i replaced the slow one with the fast one on my bss playlist.

you picked a good thread to bump, impy. i think i've made it rather obvious to everyone here how much i LOVE it's all gonna break.

now, tell us how much you love 'anthems for a seventeen year-old girl' and 'lover's spit'.

Lover's spit is really good, but I've listened to Anthems probably about 7 times today.

It's that good.
