This stems from an idea I had in the AFI thread and it's pretty simple.

Submit your Top 25 movies in the best order you can (#1 = 25 points, #2 = 24 pts., etc...). After maybe a week or two weeks I'll tally up the results to make a list of Interference's Favorite Movies.

We can discuss our lists, why we like some of these movies, why we don't like them, you know, fun things like that. Remember, this list is your 25 favorite movies, not necessarily the greatest movies you've ever seen. The more people participate, the more fun this will all be.

To start us all off, I'll submit my Top 25 in the preferred format:

1. Back to the Future (1985)
2. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
3. Ghostbusters (1984)
4. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
5. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004)
6. Children of Men (2006)
7. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004)
8. Waiting for Guffman (1996)

You can always add your last 7 slots later, if that helps.

And I really think that the difference between Greatest and Favorite makes this kind of thing fun. For example, Schindler's List is probably one of the greatest films I've ever seen, but can I watch that movie again and again, on a road trip or car trip? Probably not, that'd be a horribly depressing trip, but I'd gladly watch something like Big Trouble in Little China over and over again because it's fun, but that's just my taste. It'll be cool to see where the taste of most of the voters slant.

City of God
not on one list

I just saw City of God a few weeks ago, and I was impressed by it. I think it would make my top 25 greatest films, but not my favorites list. I almost added it here, but there were other movies I liked more.

For me, how much a movie entertained me mattered much more than its cinematic value. That's why there are some movies on my list that are far from fine cinema, because they've made me laugh or cry or somehow have become important to me over time. I based my list on the movies I've seen over and over again in my life, the few movies I own, and more recent movies that I know I'm going to watch every time I get the chance to.

I'm pretty sure I want to change the last 5-6 on my list already.

Looks like The Lord of the Rings films are gonna be very high on the final list.

But the Star Wars movies seem pretty evenly spread out though.

I'm not big on LOTR either, but a lot of people really like them. Not as much as Big Trouble in Little China

I think EL-FA and I are the only ones who'll post that gem on our lists.

I love Big Trouble in Little China. Can't get enough of Carpenter's The Thing, too. Damn, this list should have been top 50.

"When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
