I didn't get the fuss about it either. I like Winslet, but #1? Geez, how many movies have you people seen? Anything prior to the millenium (And I'm no movie geek, but this is blasphemy, really)

Wow, I just now realized that Kevin Smith is on that list.

Right above Leone and Kurosawa.

What. The. Fuck.

I feel the same way about Donnie Darko.

He had like 8 pts, so he didn't make the final list.

His turn in Michael Collins as Eamon De Valera is sadly overlooked as well.

And Sherriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of thieves.

And Love Actually.

And Dogma.

Man, he was great in Prince of Thieves. Was it wrong that I was rooting for him over Kevin Costner?

I still think Rickman was at his best in Rasputin.

I loved Donnie Darko, it was a good movie and I loved Kevin Smith's Dogma and Clerks too.

This wasn't necessarily about picking the best but your personal favorite.

What sinful lists, it's almost as if the first half of cinema never existed at all.

No, I'm kidding, it actually doesn't bother me in the least.

What's sad is that this forum is made up of people from all over the world, and yet we have lists that are completely dominated by Hollywood filmmakers, with the exception of a few directors and some British thespians.

Just goes to show how the dominance of American film has infected every corner of the globe. Not that there aren't still great films coming out of Hollywood (I still feel the majority of cinema's greatest works have come from there), but it would be nice to see some support given to local filmmaking. There's still great stuff coming out of Northern Europe, Southeast Asia, and France, as always.
