Wow! A lot of really exciting stuff this year.

In particular, I'm dying to hear about WKW's Ashes of Time Redux (obviously), Synecdoche, New York, 24 City, Wim Wenders' Palermo Shooting, the Polanski documentary, new WOODY ALLEN, new Clint Eastwood, and perhaps most exciting, Soderbergh's TWO Che Guevara films, done in the style of Eastwood's two Iwo Jima pictures.

Overall, very interesting line-up. I wish I were there.

I'm really excited for the new Woody flick, for a few reasons.

Yes, but that's for the one with Larry David, this one has Scarlett and Penelope Cruz going at it for sure. And Javier Bardem, not sure what he does, but what business is that of yours?

Not sure if anyone hear remembers the old British Sci-Fi series Blake's 7 (was on around the time of the heyday of the Tom Baker Doctor Who episodes), but apparently they're going to be shooting a 2-part remake to test the waters for a revival.

If you're not familiar with it, the show is considered the primary inspiration for Joss Whedon's Firefly. Even though the SFX are as cheap as Who's, the scripts were amazing and there were some great, complex characters.

Unfortunately the show's not on DVD in the U.S. but I've managed to acquire all four seasons anyway.

Finally? The guy already has an Oscar.

Jeff Wells, who wrote this article, has a blog site where he writes about movies, and this year, politics as well. He's a passionate cinephile, but is a little wacky and often goes on pretty entertaining rants. The commenters often get into pretty heated debates as well, over everything.

I read his site daily, worth a look:

I'm sure this is all over PLEBA but this is too cool not to drop into Random Movie Talk.

Another music/movies connection here, as Brian Eno discusses his admiration for Kubrick's Barry Lyndon.
