Is that Tim Robbins?!

Someone put on a little weight...

I really wanted to see something this week, and a bunch of good movies are about to come out but there's NOTHING to see where I am right now.

Until tomorrow, at least.

Shoot 'em Up vs. 3:10 to Yuma

Which to see first?

I'm definitely seeing Yuma first. For one, it just looks to be the better film, but for two, I'm just a sucker for a western.

Flip a coin, both look like keepers and good theater movies.

I've come to not anticipate films based on actors/actresses. I've seen far too many mediocre to awful movies starring actors I rather liked. As it stands, the case is usually one of the last things I look for in movies these days.

So, was TMNT better or worse than the three old-school TMNT movies(which are mainstays on my 'movies I love but know are terrible' list)?

I'd say TMNT was easily worse than the first Turtles movie, and probably on par with the second 2.

I actually think this has been a pretty shitty year so far for movies. I'm struggling to find stuff to put in my Top 10, stuff I'm not even crazy about.

These are all films I really liked:

1. Knocked Up
2. Ratatouille
3. Zodiac
4. Grindhouse
5. Hot Fuzz
6. Superbad
7. Stardust

I enjoyed others like 300, Ocean's 11, Sunshine, and The Bourne Ulitmatum (overrated, not the be all-end all of action movies by a longshot), but not enough to even make a preliminary Top 10 list. I expect half of what I do have on here to not be around before the year's up.

The majority of my movie-excitement for the year lies in the fall/winter line-up.

i definitely see your point, i have watched many movies i didn't care for due to actors i much enjoy
but at the same time i also have discovered other amazing films & directors too.

the rest of it becomes an interesting path, an actor (or director) will draw me to watch movie x... movie x will lead me to be drawn into either director y (or actor y) which will lead me to actor/director z.
as long as i discover well written, well directing, moving, mind provoking, funny, visually amazing, stellar sound, or whatever it may be, as long as it's interesting and unique storytelling/art.

Expect impressions later on.
