when people were writing did they italicize or bolden(that cant be right. maybe someone from the olden days knows) their writing?

Our pencils didn't have such functions.

We had to get up and walk over to our TVs to change the channel. And we walked 5 miles to school every day up hill each way. :D

..in your father's pyjamas. And when we came home, we ate dirt because we didn't have enough for dinner.

...kids these days. They don't know how lucky they have it

Italics have been around since Julius Caesar was a boy
and as forbolden ( you got that bit rightclever trevor )
people have been doing fancy writin' for a long long time sonny.
Have you ever seen the Book of Kells?........very fancy eh?

You guys really should have a bit of a look around you. There is a lot to be learnt about the future , from the past........goodluck  Big ONE 2 U kobe...live and learn

ps: you are right deep..a lot of ppl can't afford dirt..i know in finland in the last famine, it was common practice to mix sawdust with flour so as to make the bread feed a few more of the children....but then you need a tree to make sawdust, but trees are expensive these days. But I'm sure ppl like you with such bright ways of thinking we'll come up with solutions, sooner rather than later....we hope
