A thread for the Manic Street Preachers.

I'm not a huge fan of them (I only have their greatest hits and some mp3s), and I can understand why their detractors hate them, but I do love their music. It's bombastic, yes, but it's simply irresistable for me.

Favourite Manics tunes? I love most of the greatest hits, bar 'Door To The River', though I find 'You Love Us' and 'Motown Junk' a bit mediocre. Favourite Manics song, however, would definitely be Stay Beautiful.

Only got the two blockbuster mainstream albums Everything Must Go + This Is My Truth Tell me Yours. Both great albums, some real good work there, but sometimes the 'sloganeering' style of lyrics can get me down. Mood music I guess.

I don't own anything by the Manics. Would it be good to start out with their greatest hits?

It's terribly sequenced, and Stay Beautiful (which in my opinion is one of their best songs) isn't on it, but yeah, it's a good starting point. Just don't expect any real flow to it.
