How do I get involved in this for future? I love getting and making mix CDs.

For Ewen and anyone else...

Watch the sticky threads in B&C. We usually end up doing these at least twice a year. Someone (this time, yertle-the-turtle) agrees to coordinate everything, and you send this person your mailing information, how many CDs you'd like to make (and receive), and whether you'll ship domestically or internationally. Then you're matched up with the folks for whom you'll make your CDs, and assuming everyone keeps up their ends of the bargain, you'll receive an equal number of mixes from other people.

It's that easy. :) And fun!

i was actually going to the same thing as Popmartijn.

Pax has said good things to me in private about a CD she got from you in the past. At least I think it was from you, it had Dutch artists on it and she said it was brilliant. That's the kind of CDs I'd like to get. Anyway, I'll disappear now and hopefully get involved in a future exchange. So Pax, remind me please when the next one is about to get underway incase I miss it.

Well, I can tell you she also makes kickass mix CDs herself. I even have two of her mixes to prove it.

i went to the post office finally. and then about an hour later, i realized that nowhere did i write down who they actually came from.

so yeah...if you're jessicaann, jack in the box, marty, or lmjhitman and you get a mix in a little white envelope with a track list taped to it, and that's all there is....

:reject:

i did get a mix from pax that i haven't had a chance to listen to yet. :hyper:

:der: i didn't see that marty had posted pax's mix list already and almost typed it up myself :shifty:

 i'd never heard that cover of thunder road before. and despite having heard peter gabriel's "solsbury hill" a million and a half times, i'd never known the name or whose song it was :der:

i was under the impression that i hated the postal service, but i'm absolutly in love with "the district sleeps alone tonight". i had no idea this song was so perfect.

pax was right in the post-it note stuck on the cd case, we do have drastically different taste in music. i've never heard any nada surf or leona naess or jesse sykes and the sweet hereafter. my knowledge of jeff buckley is contained to the songs that were on the mix storiesforboys sent me last time around. i don't know the majority of the songs by the bands/people on here that i am more familiar with.

 i'm happy.

Well, I'm glad I could send you some new(ish) music! Looking forward to getting your mix.

I got Iris's (MVD_75's) in the mail the other day, and I was on the road quite a bit this weekend...as was Iris's mix! :) I really enjoyed it; thank you. Here's the tracklisting:

1.) "Y'All Scared" Outkast
2.) "Doo Wop (That Thing)" Lauryn Hill (classic!)
3.) "Turn the Page" the Streets (every time I hear a Streets song, I wish I knew more of his stuff)
4.) "In Limbo" Radiohead
5.) "Possession" Sarah McLachlan (LOVE this song...I'm a big Sarah McLachlan fan)
6.) "Belong" Remy Zero (another band I'm always reminding myself to check out more)
7.) "Silent Sigh" Badly Drawn Boy
8.) "Tea in the Sahara" John Mayer (live)
9.) "The Way I Feel" Remy Shand
10.) "Rosa Parks" Outkast (another classic!)
11.) "Long Lost" Better than Ezra
12.) "1:36" Coldplay
13.) "Roseability" Idlewild
14.) "Rise" Doves
15.) "Sail to the Moon" Radiohead
16.) "Wild Horses" the Sundays
17.) "Silent Night" Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan

Thanks again!

I have to add, too, about my mix...a few songs' presences are thanks to other Interlanders!

Bonochick introduced me to Leona Naess.

meegannie included "The District Sleeps Tonight" on one of her mixes to me a few ICDEs ago, and I liked it so much that I went out and bought Give Up.

Mirrorball Girl and meegannie both put Frames songs on their mixes to me, and again, I now have most of the Frames' discography.

I sent my mixes out a month ago, and still haven't even heard a peep or received mixes from others (although I did get a mix from JessicaAnn) :| Anyway, I thought it was a great mix (well, duh) and in case anyone is interested...here it is:

So all three of my recipients already have my CD?! :hyper:

And oh, Indra already knows this (but she hasn't found it yet), but there's a 'special secret song inside' somewhere (to quote the Red Hot Chili Peppers).
:)

C ya!

Marty

Found it! :D Took me about eight tries before I managed hear it from the beginning, but I am pretty blasted technically incompetent.

And the song sounds really familiar -- as if I've heard it somewhere before.... :hmm: :D

Thanks for the treasure hunt, Marty!

If you want to have a bit more info about the recording date etc. (it's from the same type of sessions as Scooby Snacks in the main tracklist), just say so.

You're very welcome! :D

Did it really take that long to get to you? Damn, I mailed it over a month ago...:|

that was seriously a fantastic mix LadyLemon.

maybe it took so long because i'm in canada?? i still can't believe i got 3 of them in one day. maybe the post office is hoarding them from me.

bastards.

:shame:

BTW, can you maybe check/look up if everyone has gotten his/her discs? If so, then it might be a good idea to unsticky this thread...

:)
