usc put auburn, byu and notre dame on their schedule... all of whom looked to be tough opponents before the season, turned out to be not so tough opponents durring the season, and playing these three ended up hurting usc's strength of schedule, giving lsu the slightest of bcs edges. i think there has to be a split in the strength of schedule section of the bcs... a pre-season strength of schedule ranking and a post-season strength of schedule ranking. that way usc doesn't get penalized because notre dame, who was a top 25 team when they were placed on so.cal's schedule, has a crappy year and doesn't finish over .500. usc tried to play a tougher schedule, but teams they selected didn't do as well as expected, and now they're penalized because of what someone else's team did. load of crap if ya ask me... we need a playoff system... 4 teams, 6 teams, whatever... it needs to be done. let the best team win, and let the teams decided their own destiny, not have it taken away from them because of the result of a meaningless game between two sub .500 teams in the carrier dome

There is a consensus #1 today - the BCS system, designed to create consensus, will only interfere with consensus.

if hawaii or notre dame had won saturday, usc would have gotten in... how is this a fair system, where what happens in a completely unrelated game decides who plays for the national championship game.

A win by Hawaii was worth 0.20

The margin between USC and LSU was 0.16

well they got rid of margin of victory to stop teams from running up the score... with usc's run of 40+ point victories, i'm sure having margin of victory back in would've helped too... oh well... hopefully some good will come of this... a playoff system.

Running up the score was a problem with teams like FSU

In a number of games, SC would pull starters by the end of the third quarter.

Playoff system is a good solution, but the money is against this solution. Currently, the $$$ from bowl games go to the schools/conferences. A playoff system would be controlled by the NCAA - no one wants to see the $$$ go there.

well that is actually one of the good things about the BCS, EVERY game counts

like i said, USC lost a game and only has itself to blame

there are 3 teams with 1 loss, LSU lost to a great Florida St. team, OU lost to a great K St team, and USC lost to a mediocre Cal team.

actually LSU lost to Florida 19-7 at home.

but i agree with you that every game counts and you defintely want the teams you beat to win the rest of their games.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Washington State's loss to Washington hurt SC's strenghth of schedule - even though SC beat both teams.

Every year they tinker with the computer, every year they risk another unsatisfying result.

I am not a fan of the BCS. I would rather they play for the national title with playoffs. Sweet Sixteen for Football.
