He was in town for one of his sons basketball games and turned up at a bar I frequent, and I happened to be frequenting the bar when His Airness arrived. This created a buzz to say the least, as everyone in the bar was essentially now having drinks with the greatest basketball player of all time. So that was cool.

But of course me and Jordan go way back. We stayed at the same hotel together in the Bahamas a few years ago, the very impressive Atlantis Hotel, I suggest you check it out. We spotted him in the casino, and he was at a black jack table adjacent to ours, wearing a big bright yellow suit with body guards all around. So I remember Mike from our gambling days, now we are drinking buddies.

So to recap my sports stars sightings this summer:

Michael Jordan in a bar near my house
Dought Weight and Joe Sakic in a bar closer to downtown
And I was in Keith Tkachuks house at set the longest drive record on his Golden Tee

So for only being home for a month now, thats not too bad, 1 major sports star a week. Hopefully I will be able to keep this pace up all summer.

Oh speaking of Pace, if any of you follow the NFL, Orlando Pace, who plays for the St Louis Rams is one of the best offensive linemen in the game, he is holding out for 160 million bucks. Well, he works out at the same place I work out at and Ive seen him there, sooooo, thats 5 sports stars. Not too shabby.

So, what famous sports stars have you seen this summer (and i dont mean during athletic play)?

i've seen speedy claxton of the san antonio spurs...

and drew nicholas from the university of maryland...

i wouldn't exactly consider either of them to be huge sports star... speedy helped the spurs win the nba title, and drew won an ncaa title with maryland 2 years ago, and hit the "shot of the tournament" accoring to dicky v in this past year's tourney to beat xavier at the buzzer... but i don't know if they really count as "sightings," 'cause i've known them both personally for about 4-5 years or so  but it's a start

stephen boyd, former pro-bowl linebacker for the detroit lions hangs out at a bar in long beach i go to all the time...

... so does jumbo elliot...

... and vinny testaverde is a customer of the company i work for.

that's about it for now... if i spot anyone else i'll let ya know

I saw Trent Klatt of the Vancouver Canucks at My Favorite Ice Cream Shop last year.

Not too shabby.

:sexywink:

Now, do you want me to list off the Number One draft picks I've went to school with?

When I was working in Vancouver last year, I used to see and talk with pretty much every Vancouver Canuck before every game, usually once in the morning, and once in the afternoon. I guess the only really famous ones would have been Naslund, Jovo, and Bertuzzi. They're a great bunch of guys...Linden and Morrison, especially.
