I just recently picked up on this guy because of a friend and I love his music. What do the rest of you think of him? Do you you guyz know his stuff? What do you think?

I  David Grey-

V.popular guy

I tink this is in the wrong forum tho

It might be moved to LS

David Gray with an "a" i think, is incredible. I believe that White Ladder is the best album since Achtung Baby. So yeah about the best album of the last decade. Incredibly moving, great lyrics, new twist on the acousitic thing. His lyrics become even better when you realize his struggle the past many years in the music business trying to break through. Rolling Stone had a really good interview with him last year.

What we gonna do when the money runs out....

Can't wait to hear more from him in the future.

My 2 favorite songs on the album - Say Hello, Wave Goodbye
and This Years Love.

Absolutely brilliant

*cough*Gray*cough*

I love David! White Ladder is incredible. I really want to get Sell Sell Sell. He's wonderful. Does anyone know if he's working on a new album? White Ladder is actually rather old and I don't think he's currently touring. At least not in the States.

Fave songs:
Babylon (duh!)
Please Forgive Me
This Year's Love (really good live, too)
Sail Away
Magdalena

David Gray is indeed the Man.

(And according to the official site, davidgray.com, he is indeed working on a new album.)

It sounds like you only have White Ladder, and you might want to check out the earlier stuff. I've got his debut, A Century Ends and will eventually get the other two or three albums; there's very little "technology" on A Century Ends, but the songs are just as moving.

A Century Ends opens with "Shine," a song that moves me nearly to tears (its video can be found at launch.yahoo.com; lyrics courtesy "Drunken Gibberish"):

I can see it in your eyes
what I know in my heart is true
that our love it has faded
like the summer run through
so we'll walk down the shoreline
one last time together
feel the wind blow our wanderin' hearts
like a feather
but who knows what's waiting
in the wings of time
dry your eyes
we gotta go where we can shine

Don't be hiding in sorrow
or clinging to the past
with your beauty so precious
and the season so fast
no matter how cold the horizon appear
or how far the first night
when I held you near
you gotta rise from these ashes
like a bird of flame
step out of the shadow
we've gotta go where we can shine

For all that we struggle
for all we pretend
it don't come down to nothing
except love in the end
and ours is a road
that is strewn with goodbyes
but as it unfolds
as it all unwinds
remember your soul is the one thing
you can't compromise
take my hand
we're gonna go where we can shine
we're gonna go where we can shine
we're gonna go where we can shine

(and look, and look)
Through the windows of midnight
moonfoam and silver

White Ladder has to be THE most heart breaking album ever!

so very sad

Babylon, This Years Love and Sail Away have to be three of the most beautiful, sad, desolate(?) songs in many years...

 david gray..

I personally think I am David Gray's biggest fan, but anyway... lol

Get his first album "A Century Ends", it is soooo good and better than "babylon" if you ask me. 'Shine' is one of the best songs ever. Achtung Bubba and I would not lead you astray, I mean... just look at those lyrics.

*swoon.

From A Century Ends:

Your blouse, your skirt I'll undo them so gently
With beautiful care
I'm a lonely man with five bottles of wine
I'd like you to share
And the hailstorm tumbles, the red light rumbles
You lie on the floor with me
On an overcast day in this pale winter city
An afternoon's debauchery...

-- from "Debauchery"

Anyone want to hear Bono singing that one? ;)
