As much as people call electronic music cold and unemotive, some of it is the most ethereal and pristinely beautiful sounding stuff I think I've heard, especially if you slap on a good female vocalist

here's for some examples (feel free to add any you see fit)

Orbital - Halcyon, on & on
Lamb - Heaven
Peace Orchestra - Shining
Craig Armstrong - This Love
Mandalay - Beautiful (Remix)
Vangelis - Rachel's Song (Blade Runner Soundtrack)
William Orbit - Water from a Vine Leaf (ft Beth Orten)
Everything But The Girl - Missing You

I posted this at another board but i think you folks might be able to give me some less pretentious examples

if that is the case, I need to know now so I can go do as many bad things as possible with the time I have left.

Thank you, SkeeK. I too would like to go to your heaven.

Some female vocalist electronic songs of awesomeness:

4 Strings - 'Take Me Away'
Motorcycle - 'As the Rush Comes' (most any of the zillion different mixes)
Oceanlab - 'Satellite' (feat Justine Suissa)
BT - 'Dreaming' (Tiesto mix)
Lamb - 'Gorecki'
Bjork - 'All is Full of Love' (Greatest Hits mix)
Iio - 'Rapture' (Armin van Buuren mix)
DJ Tiesto & Kirsty Hawkshaw - 'Just Be'
Jem - 'They'
Frou Frou - 'Let Go'
Paul Oakenfold - 'Southern Sun' (Tiesto mix)

I couldn't agree more, Skeek. If I may say a few words...

I listen to a lot of electronic music compared to most people I know. I especially listen to trance, and the name is completely apropos. So many times I've listened to a trance mix and it has sent me into another state of mind. There are so many beautiful electronic songs and some very talented vocalists out there (Justine Suissa probably being one of the best). A 'few' of my favorite electronic songs:

Dumonde - See the Light
Weekend Players - Jericho
Lamb - Stronger
Paul Oakenfold - Hypnotized
Ashiva - Sunrise
Deepsky - Talk Like a Stranger
Starecase - Faith
Andain - Summer Calling
Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes
Oceanlab feat. Justine Suissa - Satellite
Armin Van Buuren feat. Justine Suissa - Burned With Desire
Lasgo - Alone
4 Strings - Take Me Away
Iio - At the End, Rapture
Tiesto - In My Memory
Ballroom - Come Along!
Push - Tranzey State of Mind
Tricky - Christiansands
Jan Johnston - Flesh
Dntel - Anywhere Anyone
Deep Forest - Yuki Song, Will You Be Ready
Evolution - Walking on Fire
BT - Superfabulous, Somnambulist, Communicate, The Force of Gravity

I know most people won't know these songs, but I love all of them. In some ways it's sad that not too many people in the U.S. listen to electronic music, but that just means more for me.

Tricky, Portishead and Massive are electro? I thought that kinda stuff was called trip-hop :eyebrow:

depeche mode, kraftwerk etc. are classical electro, excuse the labelling, however

or do i misinterprete the difference between electro and electronic music?

i always thought trip-hop fit under the generic heading of electronica music

yeah it does. electronica can be defined as:
any piece of music which uses synthetically generated sound and has one of the following true
-the electronics are not made to sound like they aren't electronic
-has an irregular song-structure
-doesn't have rapping
-has a regular song structure but is made by a little known artist

electro is rather different from electronica, being music that has dominant electronics and is generally upbeat/european sounding/spunky.
