:shifty: it all sounds good but some of those things I don't even know what they are :eyebrow:

Yeah, Anise Candy antipasta sounds awful, and what the heck is Dogzilla, Zeppoles, Plantain, Oblatten, Lefse, Haiwaiian Punch Hoagies, or Filberts?

Macaroni and cheese on a stick?!? :eyebrow:

Deep fried twinkies - a heart attack served up on a paper plate maybe? :tsk:

And goodness, I don't think I wanna know what bull bites are :uhoh:

I sure could use some funnel cake right about now

I have it every year here at the State Fair of Texas

Funnel Cakes

They're just gobs of fried dough with powdered sugar on top. Light and fluffy

Well, I behaved myself at the Fair. I only ate a Breakfast Crepe, a Poncho Dog and some cookies. I also tried some weird lemonade. My friend was planning to have a pork chop on a stick but the line was too long. I brought home some Pecan rolls, honey candy and the rest of the cookies.

We went on a water ride and I got sprayed pretty bad. I had to walk around with a wet butt. :|

This is sad

I don't think I missed the Minnesota State Fair once in the 11 years I lived there. Oh how close I was yesterday too.

I want to helpout BSL here....I'll takr the ones I know.

Zeppoles are similar to funnel cake, but round balls. It is an Italian favorite in the New York/New Jersey area. They aren't quite as good at the Minn. State Fair.

Banana

Scandanavian/Norwegian flatbread made with potatos. Also see the UP of Michigan. Yeah, you bethca! :p

Filberts?

Hazlenut.

Haiwaiian Punch Hoagies

A big hot dog.

bonosloveslave said:

Similar to Biscotti...cookies/crakcers for tea, coffee, etc. German in origin.

The others, like the Bull Bites (not what you think...knowing the resaurant that is serving it, it is bite size meat nuggets that are spicy) and Hawaiian Punch Hoagie....I have no clue.

And yes, the mac and cheese on a stick and deep-fried Twinkie are actual items. The deep fried Twinkie actually originated in NYC . (read an article the other day.)

Alligator?

What's a poncho dog? Confections? Mostaccioli? Nitrogen Processed Ice Cream ?

Maple WHAT???

Someone explain to the poor little canuckian gal what a hoagie is. And a slim jim.

This list disturbs me.

Hoagie: sandwhich...aka Sub, grinder, etc.etc.
Slim Jim: beef jerky
Confections: candy or baked goods
Mostaccioli: a type of pasta
Poncho Dog: more or less a corn dog
Maple: think taffe/candy

I wish I could go back one more time

I had Alligator the first year they had it at the fair. Not impressed. It was rubbery. And it did not taste anything like chicken.

I think the Nitrogen processed ice cream is fast frozen using dry ice. It could be the same thing as ice cream dots, but i'm not sure...didn't see them. (I'll try to watch for them next year.)

I wish I could have had a Gyros from the Middle East bakery. I usually have one every year. We were having company for dinner so i didn't want to spoil my appitite.
