I gotta question...How come some legendary bands have won 0 or very few grammys.

Led Zeppelin have won 0
The Stones-2
Pink Floyd-1
The Who-0

while these classic bands haven't won many grammys, people like alicia keys have won 5. I don't get whats goin on

Excellent points.

Honestly, I dont think ANYONE gets what's going on. (other than the record labels who own the Grammys)

how long do the grammies exist anyway?

or even better ... why do they exist anyway?

One reason is that when these bands were in their prime, the Grammy's were much less rock orientated. The voters for the Grammy's are past Grammy winners and at that time not many rock acts had won a Grammy. I just did a random search in the Grammy database for 1971 and not a single rock song got an award (Carole King got the three most important awards that year and she's a singer/songwriter). There were also 45 categories that year (compared to the 100+ they have today).
Interesting note: both the Pink Floyd as the Rolling Stones Grammy's you mention were given to them in 1994.

C ya!
