Personally I'd suggest Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. Someone above said it was uneven, but it's also a double album that shows the band capable of almost every style imaginable. It's a good primer, and has some of their very best songs. Then I'd go with A Head on the Door, or maybe Boys Don't Cry.
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me is frigging huge, though, and so much of it is mediocre. I loved Disintegration and Kiss Me totally shot down my Cure-love
