Hulk Hogan's son injured in car crash

NBC affiliate WFLA has confirmed that Hulk Hogan’s children have been in a serious car accident.

It happened Sunday night in Clearwater, Florida.

WFLA does not know how many of his kids - Nick or Brooke - were involved, or the extent of their injuries.

Medical helicopters were sent to the scene.

Hope everyone is okay!

Update:

At 7:31pm a Clearwater Police Sgt was near or on Court St. which is the primary East-West artery across Pinnelas County/Clearwater when he noticed (and may have been a witness to) a serious accident. A yellow vehicle (appears to be an SUV) hit a palm tree head-on at a high rate of speed. The car was completely destroyed on impact. Paramedics responded and had to use a Hurst tool (”Jaws of Life”) to remove two young male victims from the car. A medevac was called to the scene and the two were transported to Bayfront Medical Center, a trauma center. A mile stretch of Court St. was closed.

The son of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan was rushed to hospital in critical condition after he was involved in a car crash.

According to police in Clearwater, Fla., Nick Bollea and a friend were in a speeding Toyota Supra that lost control and hit a median, sending it spinning before crashing into a palm tree.

Both occupants were taken by air ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

The accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. TV station WTSP reported that the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed.

Bollea, 17, appeared with his famous father on the reality series Hogan Knows Best. Earlier this month, the family moved back to Clearwater after living for about a year in Miami Beach.

Even though they look strange with bleached hair and orangey tans the Hogan's seem like nice people. Hope Nick and his friend are OK.

RealityTVWorld.com is reporting that John J. Graziano, the 22-year-old that was riding in the passenger seat with Nick "Hogan" Bollea when they got into a car accident hitting a palm tree, is still in critical condition and could possibly be facing brain damage according to his grandmother Catherine.

Graziano is a Marine who recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. Eyewitness accounts say Nick Bollea was spotted racing his Toyota Supra against a silver Dodge Viper prior to the accident taking place. Nick hasn't been charged with anything as of yet.

It should be noted that Nick has a history of speeding and was given three speeding tickets last year alone. He was ticketed last September for driving 105 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. In February, he was cited for driving 57 MPH in a 30 MPH zone and in April, he was ticketed for driving 106 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. Another report claims Nick was cited for a fourth speeding ticket on August 10 when he was driving 82 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.

Graziano served not one but TWO Tours in Iraq. It doesn't sound too positive about his condition. I've watched Hogan Knows and think those 2 kids are spoiled rotten. They are given anything they want, so why not have a 16 or 17 year old getting speeding tickets and auto accidents? He's apparrently nor are the parents interested in steering (no pun) Nick into something more safe or worthwhile. It's really sad. Hogan Knows is a stupid show, the wife is a bimbo and maybe Hulk took too many punches in the head during his career otherwise he'd have better control of his kids. They won't be able to use their wealth or celebrity to get son Nick out of these charges.

1. When you're living in south beach and your dad is hulk hogan, or someone famous for that matter, something is bound to happen, it just will. And there are tickets and deaths from kids that are 16 and 17 all the time! If you watch the news you'll find at least 3-4 deaths a day from kids are 16-17! Are they all rich??? No! Being wealthy has nothing to do with it!

2. What a cheap shot, saying his wife is a bimbo, and the show sucks, again what does that have to do with an accident??

3. Erm, if you watched at least EVEN a few minutes of that show, you'll show how protective him and his wife really are. so it sounds like you really are just saying that, just to say that, and you haven't really watched the show.

Do you have a specific problem with celebrities because mostly everything you said except that you say the show sucks, can happen to any kid, not just a celebrity.

From the few episodes I've seen the Hogans are pretty strict parents. They may get a lot of material things, but one episode I saw they got them taken away very quickly as well for going over on their minutes...

Hogan Son a Speed Demon?
Wed Aug 29, 1:46 PM

Was Nick Hogan going too fast and too furious?

Three days after losing control of his yellow Toyota Supra sports car and smashing into a palm tree, critically injuring his friend, Hulk Hogan's teenage son is now under scrutiny by police in Clearwater, Florida, for a checkered driving history that includes four speeding tickets racked up in the past year alone.

Per Florida driving records obtained by Tampa Bay Fox 13 affiliate WTVT, the 17-year-old Hogan—real name Nick Bollea—was nailed last September driving 105 mph in a 70 mph zone in Collier County in nearby Naples; in February, he was ticketed for driving 57 mph in a 30 mph in Dade County; then in April, he was busted for driving 106 mph in a 70 mph zone in Osceola County.

Last but not least, just two weeks ago while zooming around the city of Pinellas Park, the Hogan Knows Best star was nabbed going 82 mph in a 45 mph zone—nearly double the speed limit—and in a construction zone, no less.

As a result of those prior offenses, authorities restricted Bollea's license for six months, meaning he was only allowed to drive during the daylight hours.

While Clearwater Police spokesman Wayne Shelor declined to comment on the speeding report, pending the outcome of the investigation, he previously acknowledged that Bollea was driving at a "high rate of speed" at the time of Sunday's accident, which occurred when it was still light out.

The spokesman added that detectives were still in the process of interviewing witnesses.

The speeding revelations surfaced amid reports that he may have been drag-racing another car moments before the Supra crashed.

Frances Vitalis, a Plant City registered nurse, told the St. Petersburg Times she was on a motorcycle not far behind Bollea's car and saw the Supra and a silver Dodge Viper speeding on rain-slick roads between traffic lights.

"We knew something was going to happen," she said Tuesday. "You know that this is a bad situation and these guys are hotdogging."

Vitalis added that after the accident, she stopped and tried to get Bollea and Graziano out of the vehicle, but the Supra was so smashed that she wasn't able to open any of its doors.

The paper noted that Hulk Hogan, whose birth name is Terry Bollea, owns a 2006 silver Dodge Viper coupe that matched the description of the other vehicle, though witnesses were not able to identify the driver.

Shelor subsequently issued a statement on Wednesday saying the pro-wrestling superstar was not driving alongside the teen at the time of impact, but had shown up at the scene several minutes later, and there is so far no outright proof indicating the younger Bollea was racing.

Emergency crews on the scene subsequently extracted Bollea and his passenger, 22-year-old active-duty marine John J. Graziano, from the twisted metal and airlifted them to St. Petersburg's Bayfront Medical Center.

Bollea was treated and released the next day. However, WTVT reports that his longtime friend, who just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, is in a coma and needs emergency surgery, but doctors have been prevented from operating due to swelling on his brain.

Graziano's grandmother was quoted by the Tampa Tribune as saying there's a chance the marine may have suffered brain damage.

Various media outlets have described both Graziano and Bollea as great friends, but also adrenaline junkies to an extent. WTVT noted that the latter had expressed an interest in fast cars and even mentioned attending stunt-driving school at one time.

In fact, in a blog entry on his MySpace page dated June 19, Bollea wrote that he was "working his way into the drifting world" and was practicing up on his skills in hopes of driving the Viper in a formula race. Under occupation, he also describes himself as a "pro drifter."

In the wake of Sunday's crash, Bollea has since posted a message thanking "everyone who has sent their support" to him.

"Right now I would like to ask all of you to focus your prayers on my friend, John," he wrote.

Bollea's sister, aspiring pop star Brooke Hogan, offered pretty much the same wishes in a post on her MySpace page.

Not taking any chances, the Hogan family has hired J. Kevin Hayslett, a Clearwater-based attorney specializing in criminal defense and drunk driving cases, to represent Bollea in the event charges are filed.

Graziano's family and close friends, meanwhile, remain by his bedside at the hospital. A prayer vigil for friends and acquaintances is scheduled for tonight in Glen Oaks Park.

I've seen that Hogan Knows Best show and he definitely has that wild/risk taking streak. What a horrible way to learn a lesson.

It does sound like the kid's spoiled rotten. And why are the police just now noticing all these tickets in the past year?
